- ARTHAILIA -
"Look at me. I'm the one you want." His seductive voice called my name putting me in a trance as his hand caressed my cheek. I can see his silhouette and physique outlined in his black cloak but not his face.
My eyes closed and despite the darkness, I can feel the rays of the moonlight shining on my face, outlining my cheekbones and jawline while dosing at the feel of his touch. He dipped a finger in my mouth. "Say you want me." He said and I can feel his warm breath on my face. The moment his fingers caressed my skin, I forgot I was squatting by the window.
"Die with me." He ordered in a domineering way that left me breathless. Pulling me forward with his finger tips. I found myself moving like my body was his. I found peace with him and I followed his rhythm, falling out the window....
My eyes shot open and I gasped. Breathing heavily while examining my room. It's normal. Everything and everywhere seems normal. I leaned over my bed, to the side, and poured myself a cup of water from the golden decanter. I've been having the same dream for days. Dreams of him... the one I met sixteen years ago. I sighed, dipping my hand in my hair. I don't remember what he looks like and I can't remember his name but I've lived my life trying to meet his expectations. Trying to be like him, or rather, be the woman he'd want to be with.
I sighed and leaned my torso on my knees, staring out of my balcony. The doors are open and the breeze blows the curtains back in my direction. Deep breaths Thalia. Soon, you'd be the ruler of this great kingdom, maybe your nightmare would be over. Maybe. That's a big maybe considering I don't know if I can tag it as a nightmare or not.
I heard a knock on my door and hummed. "Your highness, do you feel okay?" My right hand yelled from the other side and I closed my eyes. It's Rina. She's been my personal right hand maiden since all I can remember. We've been friends for so long and shockingly, despite her being a noble, she prefers to fight by my side and guard me.
I groaned. "I'm fine Rina. Quit the formality now." I smirked and she barged in. Rina was dressed in a white body fit armour. Her hair is golden-white and her breastplate stopped just beneath her bossom, revealing part of her stomach where her white armour skirt secured. Stopping just above her knees. Nest-like shoes twined around her legs like those of a dancer. Sizing her from head to toe, I grinned. Her breastplate showed just the right amount of cleavage to leave men wanting.
"Now, have you come to aid me or bed me?" I asked and she grinned.
"Anything you want. At your service, your Highness." Rina curtsied mockingly. I pulled my robe over my arm when I felt a load of air cloud my bed and jerked my neck to the side with a raised brow.
"You'd need more than that to attack me." I said to Rina and she pulled her spear out of my bed stand and shoved it behind her back.
"You're a queen now." Rina said, getting off my bed. "People will always want to kill you. They need to know you have someone worthy enough to fight for you. By your side."
I got off my bed, tying my robe on my waist. "Why thank you Rina, but I don't need that for now. I'm going out for fresh air." I muttered, walking to my balcony. She stayed behind me, like she was waiting for an order. Or invitation. I'd rather have my space somewhere else but I might need the company. "Join me." I said to her, pushing the curtains aside. I shivered when the breeze hit me.
"You know, you don't have to worry about it." Rina said softly, making herself comfortable by my side. "When you're queen, you can find him. Just give an order." She knows. Being my best friend, I wouldn't expect any less. She always knows what troubles me at night.
I sighed, resting my jaw on my palm while enjoying the view of the stars. "That's the problem. I don't want to find him. I want him to find me."
With a sway of her ears a weird silence brewed between us, I turned to face her. Her brows creased.
'What is it?' I'm tempted to ask but didn't. Like she read my thoughts, she frowned.
"He's here. My brother. I can hear the horses and wheels of chariots." Rina said with a tightened jaw. Her fists clenched.
I can't deal with that right now. Tomorrow is the day the heads of the seven guardians of Artiganda come together to finalize their decision in making me queen. How could the fact that Rina's twin brother was one of them have slipped my mind? The twins are powerful together but despite their bond, they've always had their disagreements. "Great, what could be more shattering than meeting with a flame using, sorcerer, elvish prince?" I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my torso.
Like a lightening bolt, an arrow shot in the air, aiming for my quarters. Rina jumped, flying out my balcony while somersaulting and swaying her palm in the air, reversing the direction of the arrow. Freezing it as it landed on the ground, destroying my rose garden. She landed on my balcony pillar, steadying her feet, while squatting.
I stared outside, looking at the far entrance of my palace. There laid him, on the back of a white horse, looking majestic. He had a sly grin on his face. One filled with content and charisma. Rina returned his gaze with a fiery one. I could already tell they were communicating using mind control. Rohan waved to greet me. I smiled at him. He bowed his head a bit and sped off.
"I don't think he's here for good." Rina said, climbing down the balcony pillar.
"Neither do I but when I'm queen, none of that matters. And I'll teach him not to wave at his majesty." I said retreating to my chambers. "Enjoy your night Rina. Tomorrow, we shall meet with Rohan."
"As you wish." She said and backed me. "I cast a protection spell while diverting the arrow. Be safe princess."
Eek. "When you call me that, it makes me want to slit Rohan's tongue. Thanks. Stay safe Rina. You will be missed." I said and she shut the door. I want to sleep, but I'm worried I'll see him again. And I can't risk Rohan sneaking into my mind.
