Advocating for a handsome devil… : Starkissed Anyone that knows me wouldn’t miss noticing that I am always getting myself caught up in something.. i was not exactly cautious all the time and it really wasn’t any different after meeting Val . He was unlike any other client of mine… I had experienced plenty of career criminals before considering i was an assistant in the Defense Attorney’s office.. I don’t want this to be confusing.. I am not a lawyer.. I only accompany my boss’s employees on very important cases that require traveling, since I am usually the most prepared and the easiest to get in touch with on short notice they usually ask me to go along. Today i happen to be in Southwest Florida with my colleague Van, he’s the attorney that Valor Marino personally requested to represent him in his upcoming murder case.. since the prosecutor will be here as well for the meeting i have to be in the meeting as well.. it’s not exactly protocol and typically isn’t allowed.. but an exception was made by the warden for this particular occasion and I am very very nervous… Van- “Are you sure you are comfortable with this Lucina?” “You don’t have to do this you know.. you can decline..” Lucina- “I’m sure, thank you Van but I’m here already and regardless i want to help however i can..” Van- “Alright just remember at anytime you can you can call for the guards to let you out and i will block him seeing you exit. Don’t worry about how it might look to anyone you being strong enough to walk away if you need to shows your strength.” Lucina- “Thank you.. i am really really nervous but it’s my first time doing this so I’m pretty sure it’s just performance anxiety and my uncertainty.” Warden- “Van and Lucina? “Yes” “Right this way. He’s already secured in the cell for you and he is aware of the fact you have female company, he has consented to speaking in front of her and trusting her with sensitive information. “ Van- “Thank you warden we can handle everything from here just notify us when the prosecution attorney arrives please.” Warden- “Yes sir. and miss this button is for you just in case. It’s for immediate access to page the guards if you need to remove yourself from the room.” Lucina- “Thank you.” Pov- Mr. Marino I’m Van I’m the attorney you requested to represent you during Your upcoming trial, this is my associate Lucina, she is here to help with documentation, preparation and details for your defense. Thank you for agreeing to allow her to accompany me.” Val- “I chose you because you have the best acquittal rating in the state and that’s what I am looking for. I don’t care if you personally believe in my innocence or guilt i only want you to get me acquitted from the facts and what you get from my case. As far as you Miss Lucina I’ll trust that he requested you because you know what you are doing?” Van- “She’s..” Lucina- “Van i can speak for myself” “Yes sir i do know what I’m doing and I’m more than prepared for this meeting today. If you look here I’ve highlighted every portion in your case that I feel free facts and circumstancial evidence thd prosecution will spkn or call into question first and I’ve prepared some statements, responses and counter questions for possible witnesses on both sides. I will advise for this passage here highlighted in red, control your reaction because they will be looking for your aggression to create guilt beyond any reasonable doubt you are capable of this crime. Leave your arrogance outside during trial, put your calm, collected and calculated faces on and really think before you choose to answer anything. Trust us with the rest and we have a shot. “ Van- “Proof enough for you val?” Val- “f**k yes, i want her as my attorney haha!” Lucina- “Mr. Marino I’m only an advocate and secretary, i don’t have the authority or legal credentials to represent yoj myself..” Val- “Lucina, beautiful. Relax it was complient in the gorm of a joke haha I’m well aware that you aren’t a lawyer. I appreciate your thoroughness with my case miss and I know you did this by yourself…” “Van no offense but you wouldn’t have half if your success rate without someone like her on your team.. mmm mmm mmm you are certainly lucky.” Van- “Alright val tone it down. “ “Lucina can you pass me folder number 3 please.” Lucina- “Here, you’ll need number 5 and 7 as well if you are getting his signatures now.” Van- “I was planning on it yes. Thanks.” Lucina- “Here you go.” Val- “This pen isn’t working right.” Lucina- “Here i have an extra.” I leaned forward just a tad to scribble it on the front of the folder before handing it off to him.. my colleague didn’t notice him grip and linger on my fingers but i wasn’t really afraid… it almost felt gentle, adoring.. desiring.. I had to pull myself back a bit.. get a grip lucina… Guard- “Van the warden needs you for moment. Come with me sir, the prosecution attorney is here and the warden wants to see the both of you. “ Van- “I’m not leaving my colleague sir.” Lucina- “Van i can speak for myself.” “There’s always a guard outside and Val you don’t have any intentions of harming me correct?” Val- “Not at all miss.” Lucina- “There you go. I’m fine and I’ll finish up the paperwork for you go see the warden.” Van- “Alright I’ll be back in 10 minutes.” Lucina- “I can’t have you sign anything else without him here but thankfully the next signature has to be with you and the prosecutor so we have to wait anyways.” Val- “Lucina.. that’s a beautiful name you know.” Lucina “Thank you Val.” “I can’t ask anything oc real importance either unfortunately but you can always talk to me normally about something general and unrelated to the case.” Val- “Alright then.. what made you decide to be a secretary instead of going for your degree? You clearly have the intelligence for it and dedication but instead you chose to do something that requires you to take orders from dorks like him haha. Why is that?” Luci- “Hehehe umm well though I don’t necessarily agree that Van is a dork um I actually don’t want to be a lawyer at all. I started this because I enjoy paperwork and book keeping and I also had an obsession with true crime fir a while hehehe it was this or being a librarian. “ Val- “Mmm alright alright, I can see that. Do you wear glasses?” Lucina- “Uh yes I do.. if I’m doing extensive reading sometimes I’ll wear them..” Val- “Then i can see the librarian too haha no disrespect at all miss lucina but you would make a very fine character in a story for a naughty prosecutor or a naughty librarian.. you could be someone’s perfect muse for sure..” Lucina- “Um thank you val that’s actually very sweet.” Val- “You don’t have to answer to this and I know you can’t but I want to ask anyways..” Lucina “Ask me what?” He leaned himself forward getting just a bit closer to me.. his eyes softly studying my face before asking Val- “Do you believe I’m guilty?” Lucina- … “ Val- “It’s alright like i said i know you can’t answer me.” Lucina- “Actually there’s nothing completely legally binding me from giving you my general opinion.. I’m not a lawyer remember..” Val- “Mmm very thin line i see.. well do you have an answer you want share with me Lucina?” Lucina- “It doesn’t matter what I think because my opinion won’t count or save you during trial.. but in general do I see where you are capable of aggression absolutely you have a track record oc it but it doesn’t mean that you did it this time. There was also 3 eye witnesses that have a contradicting history with you that some would even say might benefit from your incarceration.. so there could even be motive enough to set you up.. but you also openly threatdned the victim 3 days prior to him being murdered. It is a sticky situation and my opinion is not the one that will help you it’s the jury’s opinion.” Val- “I know lucina but I wanted yours.. your opinion not facts or analytics. I want to know what you think of me?” Lucina- “Why is it important to you for you to know what i think of you?” Val- “No disrespect at all.. again.. but is it really that bad that I want to know what the beautiful woman sitting across from me thinks about me?” Lucina/ “No I don’t believe it’s bad. I also don’t believe you are guilty.. no. It’s too clean for a situation that speaks of depth and secrets. You seem more like perfect fall guy and it seems like that is exactly what someone else expected and was hoping for. “ Val- “Lucina if you truly believe i am innocent then you have to be careful. The people i was associated with will not stop until I’m taken care of..” “Don’t plead my innocence too enthusiastically or openly please.” Lucina- “I can’t promise that Val.. if you are innocent i won’t judge let you stay in here ic i can help you.”
