Steve nudged Rocky behind him as he opened the door. The men stepped in and holstered their weapons. Dana’s boss carried himself well. Possessing a full head of jet black hair and piercing ebony eyes, Steve doubted anyone would dare to lie to him. In contrast, the accompanying officer was short, bald and chunky, with pleasant baby-blue eyes. Steve guessed his appearance was deceiving. “A million possibilities have gone through my mind since you called,” Steve said. Rocky threw a ball on the detective’s shoe. “I found out something that will interest you,” the man answered. Steve invited them to sit. Rocky threw the ball in the officer’s lap. “Not now.” Steve told him. Rocky barked for his ball. Steve took hold of his collar and pulled him away. He sulked on the carpet, noisily chewing
