CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Lauren spent a week hiding in a cave before setting off to buy a bicycle and helmet. She’d chosen cycling over her car because cyclists were such common fixtures along the road that people paid little attention to them. She would not be noticed, especially with the helmet to cover her short blond hair. She parked a few blocks from the bike shop, bought the bike, and pedaled to the accounting firm where Mitch worked, timing her arrival for quitting time. She watched the workers leave as she crouched behind bushes lining the grounds of the small firm. Fortunately, Mitch didn’t depart with the crowd. She would catch him alone.
