Chapter 8~ Can’t Fight This Feeling

1042 Words
As Jessica was in her room getting dressed after her shower, her phone went off with a notification from FoodRush that the delivery driver was at the restaurant waiting to pick up their food from and finished getting dressed as she wore a gold turtleneck and dark blue skinny jeans. Fully dressed, she slipped on her slippers and went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face as well as to brush out her hair. Back in the kitchen after what felt like forever, Natalia and Simon pulled apart after their kiss and looked at each other admirably. "Wow, that was really unexpected." Natalia stated. Simon chuckled and gave her a smile, letting her out of his arms as she walked over to the refrigerator to get a water bottle to drink. "It was, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy it." He claimed. "Same, but how are you really feeling with everything?" She said. "To be honest with you, I'm still a little upset about what happened with Eliana, but I think that'll be the least of my problems as I got someone like you by my side." Simon told her. Natalia smiled as Jessica made her way into the kitchen where her two roommates were at after brushing her teeth and washing her face as well as brushing her hair afterwards. "So, the driver is at the restaurant picking up our food and should be here soon." She told them. "Well, in that case, I'm going to get ready for the day." Natalia said, walking out of the kitchen as she smiled to herself. While watching Natalia leave the kitchen, Simon smiled and thought about which Jessica picked up on as she glanced at him. "You're in love with her, aren't you?" She questioned. "I don't know what you're talking about." He replied. "Don't play that with me, you're in love with Natalia but you're also denying it which tells me one or two things about you." Jessica responded. "And they are?" Simon wondered. "Either you just got out of a serious relationship or you're scared to commit." She answered. As much as he wanted to ignore the feeling, he knew that she was right as he recently broke up with Eliana and was scared to commit to another relationship without getting hurt again and didn't want to hurt Natalia as well. Just when Simon was about to respond, Jessica's phone notification went off as she looked to see that the driver was on their way with the food. "The driver's on their way so I'll be back." She said, walking out of the kitchen and towards the front door. After she left, Simon thought about the kiss and how it felt genuine but when he was with Eliana, their kisses felt the same way as well. Meanwhile, Natalia was in the bathroom as she finished her shower as she turned it off, grabbing her towel and drying her body off as stepped out. She opened the shower door with her towel wrapped securely around her as she walked over to the sink to wash her face and brush her teeth. After doing so, she took her clothes that she had on from the other night and carried them to her room as she placed them in her laundry hamper, closing her bedroom with her foot. After getting off the elevator, Jessica saw the delivery guy standing at the entrance and walked over to him as he gave her the bag as she thanked him and walked in the opposite direction, going back upstairs to the apartment, pressing the button and waiting. "Excuse me, are you going upstairs?" A guy asked, holding the doors opened to a elevator. "Yes, thank you." She replied, walking into the open elevator. "I'm glad that you was in this elevator." "No problem, I'm always glad to help." He said, smiling. "What floor are you going to?" "I can definitely see that." Jessica claimed, smiling back at him. "And I'm going to the tenth floor by the way." The guy pressed the button to the tenth floor as the button to the seventh floor was already pressed. As the doors closed, the guy turned to look at Jessica as he introduced himself. "I'm Wes." He said, holding out his hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Jessica." She said, shaking his hand. "It's very nice to meet you, Jessica." Wes replied. "How's your day going so far?" Jessica wondered. "It's going well, I just finished my shift over at the hospital." He answered. "You're a doctor?" She answered. "Yes, I'm a second year resident at Kettering Grace Hospital." Wes said. As he told her that he worked at the hospital, Jessica remembered the fact that Simon was an first year attending at the hospital as well. "What a coincidence, one of my roommates works there as well as a first year attending." She told him. "That's very interesting, and I'll be lying if I said that I've haven't met anyone who lives with a doctor." Wes claimed. "Thank you. You're the first person who ever told me that because usually when I tell people that I live with a doctor, they act like they don't care." Jessica explained. "You're welcome, and I care which I get it because I used to go through the same thing with people acting like they don't care." He responded. "Finally, I found someone who understands." She claimed. Wes chuckled as he asked her if she was traveling for the holidays which Jessica told him that she wasn't as she also shared the reason why she moved to Seattle. While talking and sharing personal stories, the elevator stopped on the seventh floor as the doors opened. "Looks like this is my floor, but it was really nice to talk to you and happy holidays." He told her, getting off the elevator. Jessica wished Wes a happy holidays as she told him that it was really nice to talk to him as well, waving at him as the elevator doors closed. As the elevator stopped on the tenth floor, the doors opened as Jessica stepped off and walked down the hallway toward the apartment.
