chapter 17

Elle's pov 

It's Friday afternoon and another week down thank god. I finally make it home and tonight it's the Halloween dance me and Brax are going together but we aren't going in a couple costume, I head upstairs to get my self ready when I walk into my room I see a large Ted Baker bag on my bed, I open it and am amazed when I see that white dress I was looking at a few weeks ago when me and my mum went into town. I know my mum couldn't afford this the only other person it could be from is Nick. If I wear it he may think I'm his date or I owe him something for the dress but if I don't wear it, it will be a waste of a beautiful dress. 

Brax - Are you almost ready? 

Crap I didn't eve realise the time. 

Me - I'm running really late, I will meet you there ok?

Brax - Ok hurry up I'll see you in about an hour. 

As I weigh out my pros and cons of this dress I go shower and sort my hair and make up out. I straighten it and pin half of it up, I put a little make up on and look back at the dress, I don't have anything else to wear. I hold the dress up, will it even fit looks a little small. I slide the dress on and it fits perfectly I put on the clear heals that he has matched with the dress and a white lace masks that matches my dress. I take a final look in the mirror and smile proudly, who would of that I wouldn't completely hate what I see in the mirror. I look at my phone to see 5 missed calls from Brax. Opps. I head for the door and walk the short distance to school. As I approach I can hear people laughing and screaming the school is decorated like a haunted house. I walk through the school and come to the main hall, I walk through the sea of people who are whispering about my dress and how nice I looked, I'm sure if they new it was me they wouldn't be saying such nice things. I can't find Brax so I go get my self a drink. "You look beautiful Elle, I'm glad you wore the dress" I turn to see Nick who's dressed smartly. "And what are you?" I ask bitterly. "I'm your modern prince charming" He shyly says I turn around and he eventually walks off. Where is Brax. As I pull my phone out the band stops playing and I hear his voice. 

"Excuse me fellow class mates can I have everyone's attention please. There's someone here who is really special to me, lately though I haven't been treating her right and I want to do something to show here what she means to me. From the moment I laid eyes on her I knew that she was the one for me. This song is everything I feel and I hope she feels the same way"

Oh god what is he doing. He gets a guitar and starts playing a sweet love song.

Oh my god what is he doing, Is he really singing her a love song when I told him not long ago I was in love with him.

As the words hit me I feel the wind knock out of me, I wish he was singing this for me but would it change anything. He made his choice on more than one occasion I'm not what he wants.

Is he falling in love with Alicia, I look around the dance floor and see Alicia heading to the stage with a smile spread across her face, I walk to the front too, I need to see how this plays out. I feel Brax beside me taking my hand, he gives me a small reassuring squeeze and regardless of what happens right now I know I have him always.

As the song comes to a finish he makes his way off the stage, he looks at Alicia who is walking to him but he turns and faces me. "Elle, from the moment I saw them beautiful green eyes I knew I would love you, I've broke some promises to you Elle the main one being to always be there for you but I also made you a promise to always protect you and although you don't think so that's what I've been trying to do. Do you remember that day at the lake where I finally broke some of your walls and you opened up to me about your life, well Alicia had bugged me and heard everything you said, She said if I didn't leave you for her she will tell the school all your secrets and she wouldn't stop till you killed yourself. Elle I couldn't let that happen, I know how hard school is for you, I just wanted to keep you safe and alive. Elle I love you and everything I done was for you, please believe that. Please tell me you can give me a second chance, I will do anything for you, give you anything. I love you Elle."

I can't believe what he's saying she's been black mailing him. I feel a little better knowing he didn't want to end it with me and was just protecting me but it doesn't change what's happened between us. Alicia walks over to us anger seeping through her. "Nick what the f**k is this. I hope you realised what you've just done. Prepare for the whole school to know how pathetic you are, I wont rest till I destroy you, you fat loser" She spites out at me. I gulp in fear. "I think your going to be a little busy sorting out your own life to destroy Elle's" Nick laughs out, making us all look at him like he's grown another head. "What are you on about. I'm Alicia Grey, my life is perfect" She gloats  

An evil smile crosses Nicks face. "Well I don't take kindly to being blackmailed so I have been plotting my revenge. As we speak your father will have been sacked since I have just brought your dads company, A few of your dads largest buyers are very good friends of my family so after I asked them to stop using your dads firm it looked like he hit a small financial problem, which my family has helped by buying your dad's firm, we made a very generous offer which should pay for you to live in your house for another month, after that you will need to say by to your house, your pool, your driver, and them designer clothes because you, Alicia Grey are now officially poor." Her face drops as he says them last words, she pulls out her phone and after a very distressing phone call she bursts out crying "How could you do this to me?" She sobs out. "Because you ruined my life, I've lost the only thing I have ever cared about because your a selfish, nasty b***h I hate you, now I might of lost Elle forever, you think your so much better than her, than most of these people here because you have a little bit of money and snobby friends, well lets see how long these friends stick around for, lets see how powerful you think you are now your broke just like everyone else. You Alicia Grey are now a nobody" He shouts in anger looking between me and Brax and then at our hands which are still interlocked with each other. 

"Look I'm sorry just undo what ever you've done and I will never be mean to her again." She whispers out. "It's too late. After all the s**t you have put Elle through, all the comments and abuse she has suffered at the hands of you and your friends, you honestly think one shitty half hearted apology is going to make everything ok. No f*****g chance, your life is going to become your worse nightmare."  Alicia runs off crying and Nick walks up to me. "Elle, I meant every word I sung, I'm in love with you, I fell in love with you the first time I saw them green eyes. I would do anything for a second chance, please just tell me you love me." His voice starts to break at the end and I just want to warp him up in my arms and kiss him but something is holding me back. "Ellie, lets go, regardless of what he thinks he's done for you, he will always be the reason you nearly died." Brax steps up calling Nick out "What is he talking about Elle" Nick asks me. "I'm talking about the fact you told her you loved her then dumped her a few days later for Alicia, she truly believed it was because of what she looked like, everything she did to herself was for you to love her again and in my opinion I don't know what she see's in you, since the first day I got here all you have done is f****d her over, texting her you love her but bullying her at school or at least standing by and letting her get bullied. You don't deserve her" Brax says.

"Elle do you want to leave?" Brax asks me and I slowly nod. What just happened, it all feels like a blur, I start walking with Brax but I honestly don't even know how I'm moving the whole school is watching me and I feel sick. I finally got everything I ever wanted with Nick but why am I thinking of Brax, he' like my rainbow that came during a thunderstorm. He always puts me first. I still love Nick but could I be developing feelings for Brax. How did I go from no guys to 2 guys in the matter of months. We step out side and the fresh air hits me bringing me out of my haze. "Elle are you ok? Do you want me to kick his ass" his attempt to cheer me up makes me laugh. "Can we just go back to mine." He agrees and we head off back to my house, I just need to process what just happened. 

We get to my door and I unlock it stepping in but he stays back. "you ok?" I ask. "Yeah, I'm just going to head home" he says in a sad tone. I put my hand on his arm. "Hey are you ok Brax.." 

"Elle I need to tell you something, I know this isn't the best time but I need to get it off my chest." He pants out running a hand threw his hair. "Ok Brax, you can tell me anything."
