Chapter three - I don't want to see him

2088 Words
Lizzy's POV: Kevin keeps trying to talk to me. I don't know what to do. He doesn't want to stay away from me. We don't have any relations. I know he won't be next to me for a long time. Look at what happened between him and my mom. I can't be sure he won't do the same thing to me. It's better if we don't talk. He is trying, but it doesn't mean it will be easy. I don't care why he did this to my mom. Kevin knew what he was doing. I will focus on Ben. It's not like he needs me. As I see it, he is doing better alone. That's why I will always be next to him. He is the only person I care about the most. Ben can't understand it because he is only ten. When he grows up, he will mature. Noah spends a lot of time with me. I didn't make him do it, but I appreciate it. I think he wants to give me what I don't have. Honestly, he is doing a great job. I love spending time with him. Every weekend, we have a few hours for ourselves. The last one we spent outside. He tried to talk to me about Kevin, but I cut him off. I don't want to hear anything about this man. He is no one to me. This person doesn't exist. Someone might say that I'm too cold with him. Well, he deserves this treatment. I hope that we don't have to talk to each other again. My birthday is coming soon. I won't invite anyone. The only people who will come are my grandparents. I don't need anyone else. For some time, I wanted to ask about Noah's mom. I have never seen her. The thing is that I'm afraid he won't like talking about this. Grandpa can tell me. It's not like I want to see her that much. I'm curious to know what happened. No one talks about this. I'm sure she has done something. Otherwise, they won't make her go away. Currently, I am in school. My teachers don't complain about me, which is good. Noah comes to my parent's meetings. Mom goes to the ones Ben has. I would like it if they switched roles sometimes. I feel like she is stricter with me than with him. I know she is afraid of losing me. Well, keeping me next to her won't resolve the problem. I won't go anywhere. I don't have another place to stay. I pulled out my phone and checked social media. Nothing new. Soon, I saw a shadow in front of me. - What do you want? - Hello to you, too. - Adam said - Will you move? You are blocking my view. - As if you have one. - Will you tell me what you want or not? - Nothing. I only wanted to see you. - You did it. Now you can go. - I don't think so. I didn't see you that well. - he said and came closer - You will see something else. - I said and slapped him - What the heck? Why are you in a bad mood? - This is not your business. Now, you should leave me alone. - No! - What? - I won't go away. - Why? - Because I don't want to. - What can I do to make you go away? - Let me think. Nothing. - A date? - Do you want to go out with me? - No. - Then? - Leave me alone. - I said no. - Fine. Then I will leave. - I don't think so. - he said and grabbed my hand - Let me go, i***t. I don't want to be around you. - Come with me. - he said and dragged me into an empty classroom - What do you want? - To offer you something. - I don't want anything from you. - Will you at least listen to me? Please. - No. I want to go. - You will as long as you hear what I have to say. - You have one minute. - Good. I know a place where you might feel a bit calm. I thought this could help you. It's noticeable that something is bothering you. - So? - So I want to help you. What do you say? - Will you be there? - Only if you want me. - I'm sorry, but no. - I can give you a refreshing drink. - Are you trying to get me drunk? - I never said that. - There was no need to. - I don't want anything from you. - Are you sure? I don't trust you. - This is your mistake. Look. It's not only you who hates their dad. - What? - I live only with my mom. He left her because she doesn't earn much money. We don't have a rich life, but we are good. - I won't come. - The offer is still available. I will wait for you in this dress at 9 pm. If you don't come in fifteen minutes, I will know you won't do it. Is that ok with you? - he asked and gave me a piece of paper - Fine. Finally, he walked away. I don't know what he wants from me. He is acting like I'm into you, but I know he is not. I will let him dream. He has nothing better to do. After my last class, I went to take Ben from school. I made sure that I wouldn't see Kevin. I don't know where he is, and I don't care. Luckily, he wasn't around. Ben went to his room to do his homework. I used the chance to do mine. After an hour, he came. - Yes? - Can I stay here? - Sure. Come in. - Thanks. - Is everything ok? - Yes. - Do you want something from me? - No. I only wanted to spend some time with you. Can I snuggle? - he asked and looked at me with puppy eyes - How can I say no to that? - Yay! Thank you. - You're welcome. What do you want us to do? - Don't you have to study? - I finished. Today, I don't have that many lessons. - Great. Can we watch a movie? Please. - Of course. Which one? - You choose it. - Alright. How about The Grinch? Have you watched it? - No. - Me either. - Play it. I want to see it. - What is the magic word? - Please. - It was pancakes, but please, work as well. - Why is this man green? - I believe this is the Grinch. - Oh, ok. It's weird. - Maybe. Ben watched the movie peacefully. He fell asleep in the middle of it. School is tiring him. Honestly, he is not complaining. I should be the one doing it. Apart from the joke, it's not that hard. After some time, I felt my eyes closing. One little nap won't do any harm. My parents should come home soon. Soon, I felt something in my head. Kevin? What is he doing here? He needs to go away. I don't want him around me. I opened my eyes and saw Noah. Thank god. - Are you ok? - Yes, I'm fine. - What happened? Aren't you happy to see me? - he asked, chuckling - A lot more than you think. - Why? - It doesn't matter. - Kevin? - How do you know? - Because lately, you are worried if you think about him. - True. - Why do you hate him so much? He is trying. - Trying what? To do to me the same thing he did to my mom? - He is changing himself. Give him some time. - I already have what I need here. - Do you have to be so stubborn? - Yes. Otherwise, people will step over me. - By the way, I found this note in the kitchen. I'm sure it's not for us. - One guy gave me this. It's not like I will go. - Why not? You deserve to go out. - Because I don't want to. He insisted on it. - I still think you should go out with friends. You can't be with Ben all the time. - Why not? Also, he is not my friend, so I don't need to go out with him. - So? Maybe he can become your friend. - Why do you want me to go out so much? - Because you are always at home. You can't avoid everyone because of your dad. - Don't call him like that. - No matter if you don't like it, he is your dad. - No, no, no. He is no one. - That is not true. I know you care about him. - As if. - Yes, you do. You want to know what happened between him and your mom. - I know what happened. - That is what she told you. Only he knows the real reason behind this. - Is dinner ready? - Yes, but don't change the topic. - I'm going to eat. You can wake him up - I said and left Kevin is not my father. Why everyone wants me to believe it? Just because I have his DNA in my blood doesn't mean anything. I'm not like him. Then I remembered what Adam had told me. He lives with his mom. In the end, I went to the place. I have nothing to do at home. Ben didn't like it, but I told him it was only for an hour. When I arrived, he was already there. - I'm surprised to see you here. - Adam said - Why? - I was sure you would ghost me. - I planned to do it, but I changed my mind. - Why? - Does it matter? - No. - How are you? - I'm good. This is for you. - I don't drink. - It doesn't contain alcohol. - Maybe, but I don't trust you. - Same old Lizzy. You don't look much in the mood. Did something happen? - For how long do you live with your mom? - Dad left us when I was five. - How do you deal with this? - How can I deal? In the beginning, I didn't enjoy it. Now, I don't care. - Lucky you. - What about your dad? What happened? - He left my mom when she was pregnant with me. - So you don't know him? - I do. The thing is that I don't want to see him. - You are mad at him for leaving you, aren't you? - No. I'm mad at him for doing this to my mom. I wasn't born when he left. - Do you know why he left? - No. - Then how can you be mad at him? Maybe he had a reason to do it. - I don't care. He had no right to do it. - Where is he now? - I don't know. He tried to talk to me, but I didn't let him. - I think he isn't that bad. Some people change. Maybe he is one of them. - I don't believe it. - You have to be more positive. Your mom probably moved on. - She is married, and I have a brother. - See? Even if your dad comes into your life, it doesn't mean she will get back with him. - I don't trust him. - Fine. I won't argue with you. Adam and I stayed outside for two hours. When I went home, Ben was already asleep. I changed my clothes and went to sleep in his room. I'll make it up to him tomorrow. We can play games or whatever he wants. He is the person I care about the most. I won't let anyone hurt him. He might be my stepbrother, but I will always treat him like a real one. Nothing can change that. I want him to feel safe with me. I don't know how to fight. If it's necessary, I will learn. Ben will always be next to me. It can't be hard. I won't leave him alone. I hope that he won't have problems.
