Chapter two - Who is the boss?

Kevin's POV:

Hello, my name is Kevin. I am in my forties with one daughter who doesn't want to talk to me. Things have been difficult for us. I made a mistake, and now she hates me. I can't do anything about that. It was my fault. I left her mom when she was twenty-three. I had to choose between my job and her. I think my choice is obvious. Also, I had to let her go if I wanted to keep her safe. She thinks that I'm a drug dealer. This is because I let her believe it. I couldn't tell her about my real job. Otherwise, I risk my and her life. When she told me she was pregnant, I used the chance to let go of her. The baby would've made things even more difficult. My team and I have been trying to finish one mission for the past few years. We have a slow success. That's why I'm trying to get closer to my daughter, Lizzy. She hates me. I don't think I can talk to her. Honestly, I believed her mom put her against me, but no. Nia has told her many times to let me close to her. There is one thing about Lizzy. She is stubborn like me. I don't know what to do with her. I want to be present in her life, but it's not easy. This doesn't mean I will give up. As her parent, I deserve to be close to her. I hope that one day, we can fix our relationship.

Lizzy's birthday is coming soon. I have no idea what to get her. Whatever it is, she won't like it. After all, it's from me. Once, I noticed that she looked at a heart necklace at one store. We might not talk often, but this doesn't mean I don't see her. Both of us go outside. Most of the time, I'm trying to stay away. Otherwise, she will come at me. I don't know how to fix my relationship with her.

I walked home and went to eat dinner. I called Lizzy, but she had blocked my phone number. I don't think she will want to talk with me. Maybe I have to wait for some time. Her birthday will be an opportunity for us to talk. Well, if she lets me. I expect her not to want me to be there. Her mom invited me. That is more than enough for me. I will go. Will I stay long or not depends on her. The last thing I want is to ruin her day. It will be better if I don't show up, but I won't do it. She is my daughter, and I want to be next to her.
