Kevin's POV:
I haven't heard from Lizzy for the past week. I called her, but she didn't pick up. Then I talked with her mom. It looks like they argued about something. Noah told me everything. I decided to stay away from this. As long as she is not around Devan, I'm good. My friend checked all the information we gave him. Adam's dad may be the big boss. All we have to do is to prove it. This will be the hardest part. I have no idea how to do that. This man won't go out of his shelf. Lizzy has told me that he barely goes home. This means he is going somewhere. The question is where. None of us can follow him. Otherwise, we risk our cover. That's why I ask someone else to do it, but I have no idea when he comes home or goes out. I believe his son doesn't know it either. I was thinking about talking with the boy. The thing is that I'm not sure if Lizzy has told him everything. He better find out from her. Well, the best scenario is for his dad to give up. I don't think this will happen. He loves money. The sad part will be when he goes to jail. Adam won't see him for a long time. I don't think the boy will have a problem with this. He has no idea what is going on. His dad is a criminal who won't escape easily. I hope that this will be over soon.
I haven't heard from Lizzy for the past week. According to Noah, she is distancing herself from everyone. Everybody makes mistakes. Also, I'm sure she didn't want to hurt anyone. I will gladly help her, but it's not my business. The other thing is that I have daily deliveries. The good news is that she stopped going to Devan's house. Maybe her argument with Adam helped her. At least I know she is safe at home. This is all I need. I won't let her get in trouble, even if this means I have to blow out my cover.
It's the weekend. This doesn't mean I have a rest. Nick and Dave went to make deliveries. Lately, the business has been slow. We don't make much money. Maybe someone else is taking care of this. I checked my phone, and it was only 8 am. I woke up early today and came here. I received a message. It was from Lizzy. This time, there was a video. It was Devan with other people. This place looks familiar. It's like the one I'm in right now. Hold on. Why did she follow him? We have to talk about that. I see our boss as well. We were right. He is our person.
- Why are you looking like that? Did something happen? - John asked
- You have to see this. - I said and played the video
- No way. He is our person.
- Yes, he is.
- Do you know what this means?
- That we finally caught him.
- Yes, and if it hadn't been for your daughter, it would've taken us years.
- Don't say it like this.
- Why not?
- Because she will want to help us in the future.
- I don't see anything wrong with this.
- But I do. You know my opinion about this.
- Kevin, she is not a little kid. Be happy that she is following your steps.
- I am, but she might get in trouble.
- It's like you have never been.
- Yes, but I was older. She is only eighteen.
- You can't keep treating her like a kid.
- She is the only thing I have.
- What about her mom?
- She is safe at home. At least she is listening to me.
- Hey, boys. - Nick said
- Hey, you are back. - I said
- Play the video. - John said
- What video? - Dave asked
- Watch this. - I said and played it
- Now we got him. Send this to the station.
- I will.
- How did you get this? Did you follow him? - Dave asked
- It wasn't me.
- Then?
- It was someone who didn't listen to me.
- Lizzy?
- Yes.
- I can see her working with us in the future.
- No, she won't. - I said and walked away
- Wait!
- What?
- You can't stop her, but you can help her. Be there. She needs you.
- She needs to listen to me.
- No, she needs to take life in her hands. Please, don't make her a prisoner.
- I'm not.
- Are you sure?
- Of course, I am. You won't understand.
- I do. I have kids as well.
For lunch, all of us went to eat. The deliveries are getting less and less every day. Is it possible that they know who we are? We haven't done anything to wake up their suspicions. Lizzy did. He might find out that she has been in his house. Even if she doesn't go anymore, he might have understood. I know she was careful, but it wasn't enough. She told me there were no cameras in his rooms. This doesn't mean he can't use another way. Somehow, he found out someone was there. Hopefully, he won't go after her.
- Man, are you ok? You don't talk much. - Nick said
- I'm thinking.
- About what?
- I think our cover is blown up.
- What? Why?
- We don't revive that many deliveries. They barely use us.
- That is true. I delivered only two packs today. - Dave said
- How it happened? We haven't been close to him? - John said
- We weren't, but Lizzy was. She was in his room. Not in only once.
- But she was careful.
- Just because there were no cameras and she was wearing gloves, it doesn't mean she was careful. What if there is a way he can check who used his computer?
- Does that exist?
- I don't understand technology that much, but probably it does. He asked his son, and the boy said no. Then, he told him his friend was here, not knowing what this meant.
- Do you think Lizzy is in trouble? - Nick asked
- All of us are.
- What will we do now?
- I don't know. I can't be sure my theory is true.
- But it's logical. Even if they don't know our job, they know we are not like them. - Dave said
- I told her not to do anything, but she didn't listen.
- That is not true. Also, thanks to her, we know who he is. All we have to do is catch him. - John said
- How?
- We'll find a way.
After lunch, we received a message. The work day has finished early. Lizzy helped but messed up. I will go and talk to her. She should be at home already. I went to get some sweets from the grocery store and walked to her house. I won't get mad at her, but hopefully, she will stay away. I knocked on the door, and Ben opened it.
- Kevin, hi. - he said and hugged me
- Hey, buddy. Is your sister here?
- Yes, she is in her room.
- Will you let me see her?
- Sure, come in.
- You can take this. Don't eat all of it.
- I'll leave one for her. - he said, chuckling and walked away
- Hey, dad. Did you have Ben some sugar?
- Maybe.
- He eats sugar too much.
- Next time, I'll come with empty hands.
- Better. Why are you here?
- We need to talk.
- Ok, let's go to my room. I have to finish my homework.
- Good.
- Is there a problem? - she asked as we walked in
- Devan knows you have been in his house.
- What? How?
- I don't know. Our deliveries are getting less. They don't trust us anymore.
- Look, I.
- Listen. You will stay away from him. What you did was enough. You are already in trouble. We, too.
- I'm sorry. I only wanted to help.
- I know, but I want you to stay away from this.
- What will happen to you?
- I don't know. It's better if he doesn't know about our job.
- He can't kill you.
- Lizzy, Devan is a drug dealer. He can do anything.
- I won't let him hurt you.
- You won't do anything. Please, listen to me. Otherwise, both of us won't see your mom again.
- What?
- We have the needed information that we need. Leave the rest to us. You can't do anything anymore. You can't arrest him.
- But Adam.
- Adam will find out the truth. I promise you.
- How?
- You will tell him when everything is over.
- He will hate me.
- No, he will understand.
I stayed with her for some time. Later, I went home. I planned to be alone for dinner, but Noah had other plans. He wanted to leave Lizzy and her mom alone. I believe they still don't talk to each other. I don't know what happened, but I'm sure Lizzy said something she shouldn't. After all, I am in the same. We met at a small restaurant. Noah was in a good mood. Well, his life is better than mine.
- Thank you for coming. - Noah said
- No problem. How are the girls?
- Hopefully, they are fine.
- What happened?
- Lizzy asked too many questions.
- I'm not surprised. I believe she crossed the line.
- Maybe a little bit.
- Typical.
- How are you?
- I'm fine.
- Something has happened. I can see it in your eyes.
- Lizzy might be in trouble because she decided to help me.
- How?
- She messed with my job. Now, it's too late. I don't know if I can help her.
- Of course, you can. You always do it.
- Yes, but this time, it's different. I have to save myself so I can do it with her.
- Is it that bad?
- Maybe. I don't know yet.
- I'm sure you two will be fine. Nothing and no one can break the relationship you two have. It's impossible.
- I won't be so sure.
- But I am. Even if something happens, you two will win. This is the best team I have ever seen.
- Nia will be mad at me, for sure.
- We talk about her daughter. They might not always understand each other, but she will always be her mom.
- I don't know what to do.
- Do what you always have done.
- Which is?
- Take care of them. No one can do it the way you do. You are braver than me. If something happens, I won't be able to do much.
- That is not true. You are capable of many things.
- Maybe, but I'm softer than you. That's why Lizzy gets everything she wants from me.
- This is your mistake.
- I know, but I can't say no to her.
- She can't receive everything.
- Honestly, she barely wants something. Most of the things she wants, I can't give to her.
- Why?
- Last night, she wanted me to fix her relationship with Adam.
- I believe you can do this.
I never thought Noah would be the person I talked to about my problems. He knows what to say. My friend is a parent as well, but his life is easy. I don't know what will happen to me, but I want Lizzy to be safe. She didn't do anything wrong. If you ask Devan, she investigated his whole life. She does it for her friend. Adam needs to open his eyes and see what his dad is doing. One day, he might do it. Well, it will be too late. I need to do something to keep Lizzy away from Devan. If he finds out she is my daughter, she will be in trouble. I hope that this won't happen.
