Chapter 2

“Get off me!” The man’s cold voice startled Ophelia and she quickly pushed off the stranger and stood up. “I’m sorry…” She apologized glancing at the mess she had made. “Are you alright?” The man jerked up, and his brows snapped together. “Do I look alright to you?” He shouted as he glanced at his coffee stained shirt, the coffee he had been holding had ruined his shirt completely. Ophelia quickly took out a handkerchief from her bag and started wiping the coffee off his shirt. “I didn’t mean to…” He shoved her hand away. “Don’t you dare touch me.” Ophelia blinked. She knew she had bumped into him, but this was entirely not her fault, they were both wrong here, so why was he treating her like she was filthy. Ophelia squeezed her eyes shut and exhaled sharply before parting her lips to speak again. “I’m sorry this happened, I will pay for dry cleaning…” He scoffed, interrupting her before she even finished. “Pay for dry cleaning?” he scrutinized her like she was a fly buzzing in his ear. “Do you know how much this suit cost? Can you possibly afford it?” Ophelia gritted her teeth. She had never imagined someone so handsome would be this arrogant, it infuriated her. “I don’t have time for this.” Ophelia muttered. “What did you say?” his forehead furrowed when he heard her mutter those words. Ophelia ran her hand through her hair. “Look, we are both at fault here, so either let me pay for your dry cleaning, or take my apology for it, I’m already running late for my interview and this was a mistake from both side.” She pointed. His wrath became more apparent as he shot her an icy stare. “You call this a mistake from both sides.” “Yes.” Ophelia held her head high. “You should have avoided me if you were watching, plus the corridor had obstructed both our views, so tell me, which one it would be?” she raised her brows. “You’ve got some nerves.” He sized her up with aflame gaze. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” Ophelia scoffed. “I don’t care, and I’m done talking to an arrogant prick like you.” She brushed past him to leave, but he immediately caught her by the arm and pulled her back. “Well, I’m not!” He upper lips curled into a sneered as his gaze flickered to the tag pinned on her blazers, but before he could make out the name, she moved. “Let me go.” She struggled, but he gripped her hard. “I’m warning you, let me go.” She said between gritted teeth. “Or what---“ Before he could finish his sentence, she stomped hard on his feet with her heels. He released his grip on her as pain shot through his feet. “Ouch…” He groaned, holding up his feet. Ophelia saw that as an opportunity. She quickly ran past him to the elevator and stepped in. Without hesitation, she pressed the button for it to shut before the stranger would come after her. “Get back here!” He roared in uncontrollable fury as he hopped slightly toward the elevator, but before he reached it, the elevator door closed. Ophelia staggered back to the elevator wall, her heart thumping loudly inside her chest. She placed her hand on her chest. “Darn it.” she tried to calm her heavy breathing. “Why do I have to meet such an arrogant person here? Where the heck did he come from?” She ran her hand through her hair and patted the sweat on her forehead dry with her handkerchief. “s**t, hope I’m not in trouble of any kind?” she rubbed her forehead. “Let’s stay positive.” She took a deep breath. “Stay calm Ophelia.” “Sir.” Ryan Harrison turned his head from the shut elevator and glanced at his personal assistant who stood in front of him. “Sir, what’s wrong with your suit?” James asked, surprised as he glanced at his boss suit. “Where the f*ck have you been?” He snapped at James, taking off his suit jacket. It was the first time he had ever lost to a girl, the first time seeing a daring lady who chose to run away after causing so much mess at once. First was bumping into him and spilling coffee over him, then stomping on his feet like he was a roach she could easily kill off. “I went to grab the file you requested, what happened to…” “Get me a new suit!” Howard cut him off, storming toward the CEO exclusive elevator. His knuckles turned white from the strength of his clenched fist, this felt like a slap to his face, his ego was bruised, such an ordinary job applicant offering to pay for a suit worth more than the whole outfit she wore. How dare she treat him like this? James glanced at the mess made by the coffee on the floor. “What exactly happened here?” He wondered. “It’s not a good thing for Mr. Harrison to be this angry.” He exhaled sharply. James dialed a number. “I need a suit delivered, and also, get someone to clean up the mess close to the elevator.” He instructed and quickly followed Ryan, making sure to keep his distance. Janet sat down in a small café. She bit her finger nervously in thought as she stared at the untouched coffee in front of her. Her brows drew together, and her feet jerked unsteadily as she glanced continually from the café door to her wristwatch. The door flung open ten minutes later and Vincent who she had called over approached the table with smiles on his lips. “Hey, baby, did you miss me so much that you couldn’t wait to call me over?” He kissed her cheek as he sat across from her. “We saw each other thirty minutes ago.” He slowly reached across the table and took her hand. “Baby, I know we miss each other, soon we will be living together and you will see me every day.” He kissed her hand. “You should be a little bit patient as I’m making preparations for our…” “Have you told her yet?” Janet cut him off. Vincent blinked, that was when he noticed the distress in her expression. “Have you told Ophelia about us?”
