After getting off the phone with her sister, Mia went inside to gather her things. She put the dinner dishes away then went up to the luxuriously furnished foyer to kiss Grand pa Zach good bye for the day. When she got there, Cole was with him. They were having a glass of wine, appearing to be enjoying themselves. She coughed to announce her presence, Grand pa Zach looked up and smiled at her. Cole just scowled.
"um...Zach, I'll be going home now" she went over and kissed both his cheeks.
"Goodnight"
"So early?" He whined, "It's barely seven o'clock. Come have a glass of wine with us."
"No...no, grandpa. I have someone to go home to."
Cole almost swore that he he felt his heart sink down to the bottom of his expensive leather boots. She had someone to go home to? Cole could very well imagine, the thought of Mia with some man at her house chilling him to the bone. Damn, but this woman got him, and she got him bad.
"Hey, you have some hot boyfriend tucked up at home, eh? Come on, get outta here," Grand pa Zach waved her away with one of his gnarled hands, then gave her a little wink,
"Go home, you don't want to keep him waiting a moment longer."
Cole did not even realise when he stood up and began walking slowly towards her,
" Who is he?" he asked, practically spurting fire from his eyes as he narrowed them at her.
Mia almost laughed at his bewildered expression, but the situation was not funny. It was anything but. Who the hell did he think he was?
"Excuse me?" she asked, "Why would you even ask me that"
Cole was not smiling, he practically stalked towards her, his deadly predator mode steadily in place.
"Just answer the damn question Mia. Who. Is. He?"
Mia couldn't believe she was saying this, but she had to yield. If he came any closer, she couldn't trust herself not to do something stupid, like fall on her knees and beg him to touch her, to hold her tight and never let go. She rolled her eyes, trying to look bored and unaffected,
"There is no he, I was talking about my younger sister, Maria. She's seventeen" Mia explained.
She could swear that she saw something like relief darken Cole's gaze, but it was gone so quickly that she wondered if she had only imagined it. Why would he care if she had a boyfriend. It's not like he liked her or anything, infact, his only concern was making her pissed and on edge when ever they were in close proximity to each other.
"okay," She finally said, "I'll be leaving now. G'night."
"I'll walk you to your car" Cole said so suddenly that Mia was shocked...and appalled. Walking her to her car meant that she would have to walk alone in the shadowed corridor with him and so far, she did not trust herself alone with this man.
Not only that, she had a mental image of she and Cole walking alone in the dark to the garage where her truck was parked. Her battered, beat up truck. Her cheeks flushed from embarrassment.
"No, you don't have to. It's fine."
"I want to" Cole said, already putting on his jacket. He walked past and held open the door for her in mock courtesy,
"Shall we?"
Mia sailed through the door, her head held high. So what if Cole her old, battered truck, what if he had 'bout a hundred shiny cars parked in his huge garage. She didn't owe him anything, handsome though he was. She refused to feel bad. Refused.
As they walked down the long hallway, her high heeled boots made tapping sounds on the polished, glossy wood floor. Once again, he held open the door to the front porch for her and they walked in charged silence down to the garage.
What Mia did not realise was that Cole Anderson's multi million dollar garage was sensitive to foot steps. The floors when walked on, made the lights come on automatically on the huge, arched ceiling. The garage was partitioned and each car had its own space and lights. Unfortunately for Mia, her truck was parked on the other end of the garage so she had to go through the exquisite torture of passing by each of Cole Anderson's luxury, expensive cars before getting to her own dingy truck.
As the approached her truck, Mia became more tense with each step, her cheeks burning in embarrassment. She turned to Cole,
"My car...I mean truck is just down there. Thanks for walking me."
Coke shrugged one of his massive shoulders,
"Not a problem. I walked you down here, might as well walk you down the rest of the way there."
Okay, Mia thought, this was about to get real shitty. Finally, they arrived at where she parked her truck and for a moment there, she thought...she hoped and prayed, damnit, that the lights above her truck would not come on.
She heaved a sigh of relief but right then, quite unfortunately, the lights came on, in all their bright, dazzling glory. Spoke too soon, she thought. Mia waited for Cole to start laughing at her. Quite surprisingly she heard him say,
"Nice old truck."
"Yeah," she replied, "I've had it since I was eighteen."
'Stop blubbering, Mia she quietly told herself. Biting her bottom lip, she forced herself to look up at him.
"Well, thanks again for walking me."
"No problem."
Mia got into her truck and was about to insert the key in the ignition when she saw Cole walk over to the other side of the truck and get in, a cocky smile on his handsome-as-sin face. Okay, now what was he up to?
"Wh...what are you doing?" She asked, trying not to sound as flustered as she felt.
Cole gave her a long suffering and slightly triumphant look. Then he smirked.
"Well, that's pretty obvious. I'm getting into your truck to hitch a ride outta the garage."
He obviously had gone back to his normal annoying self. So much for nice gentleman, she thought rolling her eyes.
"I can see that, but why?"
Cole heaved a sigh and rolled his eyes. He looked like he was about to educate some ignorant teenager on the dangers of premarital s*x. Mia was way beyond furious with this man.
"Did you possibly think, even for a minute, that I would trek all the way out of the goddamn garage?" He held his hand to his heart in mock horror,
"Man, you're evil. Now miss, stop staring and start driving."
She gave him a wry look,
"It's not that far, a few minutes of walking won't kill you Mr Anderson. Infact, I know men of your profession need exercises to keep fit." she said in a tone she hoped sounded dry and sophisticated rather than nervous and shocked.
This was the first man, Mia thought as she started her car, that was so skilled at irritating her. She nosed her truck out of the partition and began the short ride out of the huge garage. She had never felt the smallness of her truck's cab until now that Cole Anderson's massive frame was riding shot gun with her. The whole situation felt uncomfortably intimate now that she and Cole were sitting so close together. Cole nudged her with his elbow, a satisfied grin on his lips.
"You know, if you keep frowning so much, you'll end up getting a lot of wrinkles and sparks may very well start shooting from your eyes."
Mia had reached the end of her rope. She gave him a patient, though devilish, smile.
"Mr Cole Anderson, you're my boss and everything and I agreed to give you this ride but if you say something that pisses me off one more time, I'll kick your ass outta my truck and you may as well drive one of your fancy cars out of this garage. Okay?"
Cole grimaced,
"Hold your damn horses. What's with you and yelling all the time?"
"I was not yelling but I'm damn tempted to."
There was silence for a while as her truck made sputtering sounds.
"You can call me Cole. Cut the Mr Anderson crap. Dang thing's getting on my nerves "
Mia smirked,
"Well, I call you Mr Anderson to sound professional but now that I realise it annoys you, I'll call you Mr Anderson for ss long as I work for you."
Mia saw Cole involuntarily tighten his fingers into fists at his sides. His dark blue eyes glinted dangerously in the dark and for the second time that day, she spotted the flecks of gold and silver that danced in his eyes when ever he got angry.
Mia suddenly stilled, a sudden thought chilling her bones. He couldn't be one of them...could he? Naw, she dismissed the thought. She was sure that Cole didn't even know that such evil creatures existed, only few humans know of their existence and those that fought to protect them were gruesomely murdered, Mia's dark thoughts flashed to her parents. She breathed in deeply, determined to keep that traumatic part of her past under lock and key, like she was so used to doing.
Cole finally managed to control himself, though he still visibly shook from the remnants of his fury.
"Keep that smart ass attitude up and you may very well not last long as my housekeeper. Obviously looking at you...at this truck," he said, giving her truck a dismal glance, "You need this job and if you want to keep it, you have to always keep it mind that I'm the billionaire, I'm your friggin' employer and you're just a member of my army of insignificant staff, so you better watch your back...and your mouth too"
That said, he shoved open the door to her truck, which protested on its rusty hinges, then stalked off into the night.
Well, all in all, Mia thought, that stung, hurt but was very true. Damnit, she really did need this job but it was Cole Anderson who needed to watch his back because Mia just upped her game, and she hardly suffered defeat.
*****************************
Cole went back to the foyer and collapsed in an angry heap on the chaise lounge, his mind still reeling from his stand off with Mia in the garage. Feeling like a complete jack ass for the hurtful things he'd said to her, he rubbed his hands over his face and got up to pour himself a healthy amount of wine. His Grand dad gave him an odd look,
"You fought with your pretty house keeper again didn't you?"
Cole shot him a dark look,
"I'm not in the mood right now, Gramps."
Zach raised both his hands in a sign of defeat,
"Okay, okay. I won't bother you tonight. But I knew that Spanish beauty was somethin' from the moment I laid my eyes on her. Did ruffle some of your hard alpha feathers, didn't she?" He winked at Cole and laughed, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Cole grimaced.
"Damnit, Grandpa, could you please cut it out?"
He got to his feet,
"You don't make much for polite company right now so I'm dragging my ass off to bed. Good night 'Pa. Don't stay up too late. I'll check up on you later."
Grand pa Zach waved Cole out of the room.
"Get outta here. Good night."
Cole went up the flight of stairs that led to his personal suite, so exhausted, thinking that he would fall asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. After taking another hot shower, an attempt to dispel the erotic images he'd harboured all evening of he and Mia rolling in a hot tangle of sweat and lust, burning up his expensive Gucci sheets.
"Damn I want her!" His wolf growled.
Cole climbed into his massive, king sized bed and laid sprawled under the covers, pulling the comforter up to his chin. He closed his eyes and images of Mia dressed like a sexy as hell dominatrix filled his vision, making his s*x starved d**k shoot up in protest.
God help him but he needed to get laid and it had to happen soon or he may damn well lose his friggin' mind.
"I know who I want to be burning up these sheets with." His equally s*x starved wolf growled.
"Shut up, damnit" Cole rasped. Great, now he was talking to himself.
He considered picking up the phone to call his twin brother for advice but he knew that Callaway would never let him live it down. And his brother was probably pounding hard and fast into some random lady he'd picked up for the night. Better not disturb him, he thought.
Cole stood up, feeling restless and on edge. He sat on his automatic recliner and closed his eyes, surrendering himself to the images of f*****g the hell out of Mia, images that had been tormenting him all f*****g evening.
He mentally undressed her, slowly, like she was a rare piece of candy. His palm running over her smooth thighs till she gasped in pleasure. Then he would kiss her lush, full lips. His tongue sliding in and out as he literally tongue f****d her mouth.
His fingers tweaked her stiff, pleasure peaked n*****s till she groaned for a release she knew only he could give her. His mind went down to the little mound between her thighs, he'd suckle her there, then swallow her cries of pleasure as she trashed on the bed.
Then for the final performance, he would thrust into her, slowly at first. Then as his pleasure thundered down on him like an exploding geyser, he would pound into her wet, slicked entrance. So hard and fast, till they were both out of breathe with their c****x, and nothing else existed but the woman under him. Then he would turn her neck to the side and make that bite that would make her his forever, branding her, making her his possession.
As soon as the thought left Cole's mind he did a double take. Woah, where had that come from. He wasn't one to settle down or become attached to any woman. He liked his variety and he f****d them as they came. But Mia, Mia touched a spot in his hard, love scarred heart that no other woman he had ever slept with had even come close to touching.
Cole dragged himself off the recliner and climbed into bed again, determined to keep all thoughts of Mia far away from him. He fell into a deep sleep and dreamed of a sexy siren with long black hair.
