Chapter 24: Moving Forward
As the months passed, Liam and Mateo found a rhythm that really worked amazingly for them. They celebrated both of their successes from afar—Mateo’s big win at a championship game that him and his team won, Liam’s acceptance into an advanced engineering course he wanted to get into. And even though they couldn’t always be together physically, they made each other a priority. On the nights they couldn’t talk, they would send each other pictures or videos—small glimpses into their lives that reminded them they were still connected, no matter the miles between them. One evening, after a particularly long day, Liam opened his phone to see a video from Mateo. In it, Mateo was sitting on his dorm bed, smiling into the camera. “I was just thinking about how lucky I am to have you in my life,”
