As their long-distance relationship continued, the inevitable happened—they had their first big fight. It started over something small, as most fights do. Mateo had missed one of their scheduled calls because of soccer practice, and Liam, feeling really neglected, snapped at him.
“You never have time for me anymore,” Liam exclaimed harshly, his frustration bubbling over the edge.
Mateo, equally as stressed from school and sports, fired back. “I’m doing the best I can, Liam. It’s not like this is easy for me either.”
The argument escalated quickly, both boys saying things they didn’t really mean to each other. By the end of the call, they were left in silence, both too angry and hurt to continue.
