Hope and pain were in his eyes at the same time. Sophia was standing a little distance away, near the stairs. Her eyes were wet with tears, and her face showed a look of hesitation and pain. James quickly walked towards her, holding a fistful of divorce papers in his hand. When Sophia looked up, their eyes met. There was a strange silence in that gaze. Love, pain, and accepted reality all at once. They stood in silence for a moment. James said slowly, "Sophia, I" Sophia gently held her hand and said, "James... don't say anything." There was weariness in her voice, the pain of acceptance. Some relationships can't be explained in words. They can only be felt. They both took a deep breath. The paper slowly fell from James's hand to the floor. Some relationships end on paper, but never in the heart. James stood still for a moment. The tears gathering in the corners of his eyes and the memories floating in his heart seemed to silently break him. Then he said slowly, Why didn't you sign, Sofia…? Sofia lowered her head. After a few seconds of silence, she said, Because… I still can't believe it's all over. A light breeze was blowing through the corridor window. In that silent atmosphere, they seemed to be far away even though they were standing side by side. In between, there was a lot of pride, unspoken words, and countless memories. Just then, the lawyer came into the corridor and called to James, "Will you come in for a moment?" James looked at Sophia once, then slowly walked towards the lawyer. The lawyer said in a low voice, "Look, there's still time. You can change this decision if you want. Think carefully." James was silent for a moment. His eyes returned to Sophia. Meanwhile, Sophia looked deeply at James. There were thousands of unspoken words in that gaze. Love, pain, the shadow of lost dreams. Then he slowly turned and started walking out along the corridor. James stood still. He felt as if something of him was being lost forever again. Outside the door, Sophia's shadow slowly began to fade away. Sophia was walking... but she didn't know where to go or what to do. An unknown path lay ahead of her, and an unfinished love story remained behind. And James stood in that exact spot. Where people become most helpless, standing between love and reality. Time will move forward, life will not stand still. Maybe they will both walk separate paths, learn to live anew. But deep in their hearts, somewhere, the love they left for each other will live silently forever. The sky was strangely silent that day. A light breeze was blowing under the gray sky covered with clouds, but there was no tranquility in that air. Rather, it was a kind of emptiness. James had tears in his eyes as he climbed the stairs of the court, but now it seems to have dried up. The eyes are empty, silent. As if he had lost the ability to feel everything. Standing in the courtroom, James could not understand what to do. People were talking all around him, filing papers, lawyers busy with their work. But to him, everything seemed vague, like a distant sound. He stared silently at his lawyer. But there was no question in that gaze, no decision. There was only lost memories. Sophia's face began to float before his eyes. The first meeting, the first laugh, the afternoons spent together, sharing a cup of tea on a lonely evening. Everything suddenly came back to mind. Those memories were so vivid that for a moment he forgot reality. After a moment of silence, his own voice seemed to surprise him.... Where did Sophia go? The lawyer looked at him in some surprise. The hesitation and helplessness he saw in James's eyes made him momentarily silent. But James didn't wait any longer. He quickly left the courtroom. When he got outside and looked around, Sophia was nowhere to be found. People were busy, cars were noisy, shops were bustling, everything was going on as before. But James felt as if the world had stopped. At least his world. Meanwhile, Sophia stopped in front of a park while walking. She stood for a while and then went inside. She sat down on an old bench. Small children were playing in front of him. The sound of their laughter was floating in the air. That laughter pierced his heart like a knife. Those words flashed before her eyes. James's serious, broken voice.... Sophia, you can never be a mother again... In an instant, everything collapsed inside her. Tears rolled down my cheeks. My chest felt heavy, as if I was having trouble breathing. The world seemed to have stopped. Everything was still, silent. James returned home, his chest heaving with excitement as he saw the door locked. Where did Sophia go? The question began to swirl in his head. Without a moment's delay, he began searching. Every street corner, familiar cafe, park, place of old memories. He searched everywhere. But Sophia was nowhere to be found. Slowly, an unknown fear began to consume him. Had she gone somewhere in great distress?
