Chapter Thirteen Alpha Creed's Point Of View The fresh scent of green apples reached me before she did. I noticed it immediately and then dismissed it. We were surrounded by forest and the pack had apple trees throughout the grounds so I did not attach significance to it in the first moment. But the scent grew stronger as we walked toward the entrance and there was a specific quality to it underneath the sweetness, something that did not belong to any apple tree I had ever encountered, something warmer and more intentional than fruit. The warrior walking beside me was noticeably uneasy. This was interesting. He was a capable man and not prone to visible discomfort. Whatever was at the entrance had produced a reaction in him that he was working to contain and not entirely succeeding.
