Chapter 1
ELAINE
Elaine woke up with a start and after finally dismissing the alarm that had been blaring out for the past twenty minutes. After a fun weekend with her best friend, Gemma, of watching there favorite Netflix series and cursing the characters they despised, She was now having Monday morning blues. But she had to get up. She couldn't miss school today. An important assignment was to be submitted by today. With every ounce of effort, she got up from her comfy bed cursing herself for not going to bed early. But then it was all the same every day. She cleaned up as fast as she could, took the very first thing from the fridge she could get her hands on, and darted out the door.
She was right on time for classes to begin. She was walking on the grey marbles and passed by the open corridor of the third floor which gave full view of the ground beneath. She was about to enter her class when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to be greeted by a boy with the perfect grin. Ethan had been her only friend except Gemma. Her heart always fluttered at that beautiful smile of his combined with his emerald eyes and silky brown hair.
"I really hope that someday, for once, you get here early on time." He said.
"Hey! I'm on time." She protested. "And I know you can't find someone else this early to hear your exclusive stories so you just want me to humor you."
"They're exclusive only to you."
"No doubt about that." She said sarcastically.
He chuckled and shook his head and said, "Believe me you wound me enough with your opinions."
"I only speak the truth and I appreciate when I find something good."
"Yes ma'am." He offered a little bow as she laughed and they made their way to their seats. Teacher entered the room just as she took her books out.
.........
She was outside the school gates when she saw Gemma with her fellow classmates, talking and laughing, and felt a pang of envy. But she dismissed it. She was allowed to make friends as long as she remained the closest. "Gem!" She called out to her.
"El!" She walked towards her leaving her "friends"."I was waiting for you. Took you long enough."
"Yeah, well, our teacher was pretty strict about our today's lessons and notes. I don't think I'll be able to so much as pick up a pen for the rest of the week."
"Such a drama queen." She chuckled. "But perhaps a smoothie could help with this matter, huh?"
"Have I ever told that I love you? 'Cause I really really do."
"You can express it by buying me a smoothie I'm sure."
"On second thought, I think not enough." They laughed and made their way to the smoothie shop.
.........
Elaine bought Gemma her favorite flavor anyway. Gemma went out to take a call from her mother while Elaine bought their picks. The shop had cream tiles and whites marble floor and pictures of smoothie flavors on one wall while pictures of the founders and various awards flanked on the other.
It had four tables with four chairs at each tables. It had two big windows at the entrance that gave a perfect view of the traffic outside. There weren't many costumers save for the students mostly of her school.
"What would you like order?" The girl behind the counter asked.
She was about to ask when someone interrupted in. " Take my order please."
Great. These people didn't know the meaning of waiting for their turn. Well, she had a very well way to explain such things to such impatient people. She turned only to be met by the most gorgeous boy she's ever seen
