A pack’s Deception

Chapter three

A REJECTED PRIMORDIAL

He was already angered due to the fact that he was leaving Aurora but he wondered "Why can't i move, what's keeping me from moving?".

He hoped in his mind that it wasn't his wolf that was holding him down because he also didn't want to leave, if that was the case,he was doomed.

As he turned back, he didn't see Aurora but when he looked downwards he found out that she was the one holding his feet.

He wondered how she looked so fragile but she was very strong, he was once again drawn by her and the pulled her up.

While he was pulling her up, their eyes met again and he knew that she had him under control.

Aurora in the other hand knew that he was her mate the moment she saw him and couldn't tear her gaze from him.

With the way he looked she knew that their wolves had already sensed eachother but why was he fighting back his want.

She wondered "Did he not like me, why was he resisting the urge to take her in?".

This questions filled her mind as she watched Maverick resist the urge of taking her with him, she would have been sure that they were not mates not until he pulled her in for a hug when she was crying.

She felt what she had never felt before, her heart was beating fast and her wolf form was leaping inside her.

Whenever she looked at him, she would feel a twitch in her heart but did her best to maintain and coordinate herself.

She was shocked when Maverick had told her that they were in their way back to their pack without him asking her to tag along.

She knew that she had to do something real quick and needed to be fast about it.

She then finally got her chance when Shadow told Maverick who was absent minded that he he was going to the spot where he had hunted to retrieve his bow.

She immediately started following him while she was about to tell him that she was his mate, she heard him speak and with what he said she knew what he felt the same thing that she felt.

She then made up her mind to bring down her pride and decided to tell him that they are fated mates but her decision was short lived as Shadow returned immediately.

She has to think of another strategy and then thought that it would be wiser to do something weird which was holding him at his feet.

As he pulled her up, she looked at him in the eyes and when their eyes both met she didn't want to him to let her hands go but there was nothing she could do when he actually did, let her hand go.

When Maverick helped her up, he was happy to see that she was the one that stopped him, so he asked her what she wanted and she said "To be your Luna".

This was a shock to both Maverick and Shadow as they both looked at her in surprise.

Then Aurora thought in her head "What did I just do?, I never wanted to tell him that I was his mate, what have I done? Okay it's fine I only said that I wanted to be his Luna, I can change it by telling them something different".

She immediately put her thoughts into action by telling them the she only meant that she wanted Maverick to take her into his pack but if it was going to be weird she was ready to pretend to be his Luna.

Maverick breathed a sigh of relief because he was thinking of how he was going to turn her down because he didn't want to tarnish his reputation in his pack.

Although her she tried to clear things off by what she said but it only became worse because Maverick thought of how he was going to see her everytime and how he was sure that his wild might make him overreact someday.

While he was drowned in his thoughts, he was disturbed by Shadow who told him that he needed to make up his mind quickly.

The whole pack would soon get worried, and would set out in search of them if they spent more time in the woods.

Maverick practiced in his mind how he was going to tell her that he couldn't take her but was interrupted when Shadow reminded him that he was the Alpha of the pack and his decision is final.

Immediately Shadow finished talking, Aurora knew that she had hope of joining the pack and Maverick also noticed that her eyes became widely open as she awaited hi answer.

After a while, Maverick told her that he couldn't, bringing a stranger in the pack as a threat to the pack and he had already been told by the Gamma that his mate was in the pack.

Aurora felt really sad by his response and left their presence immediately, while Maverick and Shadow continued their journey to the pack.

On their way, Shadow broke the silence that was between them immediately Aurora left by asking him why he made sure a decision.

Then Maverick replied that he was an Alpha and should act like one, he also said that he wouldn't let his guard down because of a girl with a teary eye.

Shadow observed that Maverick wasn't happy even with his own outburst and then told him that, he shouldn't deny himself of his happiness just to please the pack.

He also told him that his responsibility as an Alpha was to protect the pack and nothing else but he was caught shut by Maverick who responded to him by telling him that his responsibility as an Alpha also included not putting his pack in danger.

Shadow who was also known to be very argumentative retorted by telling him that his happiness as an Alpha is also the happiness of the whole pack.

Shadow had said this to Maverick just so that he won't be left speechless but it was the same for Maverick at those words sank deep inside him.

He didn't reply or say anything back to Shadow until they got back to their pack.

When the got back they noticed that the warrior pack had already gathered and was ready to go in search of them, but when they heard that they were back, they held their peace.

Then some other adult werewolves went to inquire what had kept them from coming back early but Maverick wasn't ready to speak to anyone.

Then they had no option but to ask Shadow who bluntly told them that Maverick had found his mate in the woods and had to abandon her there because of his responsibility as an Alpha.

The pack was thrown into a state of confusion as they tried to uncover the truth from Maverick because they didn't believe Shadow but Maverick wasn't ready to talk to anyone.

That night while the whole pack was asleep and the pack warrior were guarding the pack

Someone left the pack.
