30 Pieces of Silver.
Do you even care about me a bit?” Aria lost her temper at Selene.
Behind that harmless question voice dwells a wounded tiger. She really wants to understand where their hate comes from.
She would have doubted if anyone had told her that Selene would be this mean to her.
The question made Selene speechless to the point where she could barely move her lips.
She keeps stuttering at every attempt to justify her actions. She never saw this coming.
She thought Aria would be a walk in the park for her. But after listening to Aria's question, she is convinced that the worst is yet to happen.
“Okay, fine. You win.” Selene succumbed to defeat. “I'm not even arguing with you anymore.”
“You've got less than five minutes to rest. I believe that should be enough to regain your lost strength,” she stated in her terms to Aria. She is definitely not giving Aria the privilege she deserves.
While Aria rested, Selene spent most of the time scanning the entire woods to be sure no harm was coming their way.
Despite being aware of Aria's healing power, she isn't sure if they will survive any attacks from the rogues or angry wolves seeking whom to devour.
After a few minutes of relaxation, Selene stretched her hand. “It's time. Be on your feet now,”
“Wait a minute.” Aria halted as she remained on the ground. 'Why are you so interested in meeting the Alpha?”
The question has been on her lips for so long. She hadn't witnessed this desperate version of Selene before.
She's so damn sure that the trip to the bloodhound pack is more than just working for the Alpha.
“Me?” Selene points to her chest while pretending not to know what Aria is insinuating.
She wasn't rushing to answer the question. Rather, she took her time to rehearse the response to avoid shooting herself in the legs.
“I won't answer the question,” Selene snapped. She can't possibly think straight to save her life.
“Would you get up and continue this journey with me?” she unleashed her beast mode on Aria again.
Aria frowned and stood up from the ground as they proceeded with the journey.
“Here we are,” Selene announced after they arrived at the castle entrance of the bloodhound pack.
"Stay right here while I go speak with the Alpha. He needs to be aware of our presence,” Selene instructed Aria.
She stormed off without giving Aria the chance to ask her questions.
Hurriedly, she approached the castle gate and introduced herself to the guards. “I'm Selene. The Alpha awaits me,”
Ignoring her speech, the guards glared at each other as they scanned Selene's entire body as though she were oozing.
“Excuse me?” She waved at them to rejuvenate their lost soul. “Are you even listening to me?”
“Come with me,” one of them spoke in a baritone voice.
He was about to lead Selene to the Alpha's chambers when she stopped him. “My sister is with me. She has to come in,”
The guard nods in agreement. He went mute as Selene signaled Aria from a distance to join her.
Luckily for Selene, she met with Aurelia, Alpha Raven's Beta. He was just stepping out of his quarters when he saw them.
“Finally! Someone fulfilled her promise," Aurelia exclaimed after seeing them. He never thought that Selene would ever show up.
“What's he talking about?” Aria asked in the utmost confusion.
She looked lost. In an attempt to c***k her head, she ends up losing some brain cells.
“Please give me a minute. I'll be back,” Selene winks at Aria and drags Aurelia to a secluded area for a private discussion.
“What were you doing over there?” She scolded Aurelia. “You were about to reveal the secret to her, weren't you?”
“You know what? Where's the money?” She digressed and stretched her hands forward to receive the cash.
Apparently, Alpha Raven was searching for a young lady to make his bride.
He saddled Aurelia with the responsibility of making that happen.
On Aurelia's journey to rival packs, he spotted Aria walking with Selene.
He liked her at first sight and believed she would be worthy enough of being the Alpha's bride.
He took photos of Aria and forwarded them to Raven for assessment. Immediately, Raven likes Aria despite not meeting her before.
Selene saw this as a business venture rather than a golden opportunity for Aria. She was ready to give up her sister for the right price.
Ten thousand dollars. Aurelia agreed, knowing that only Selene had the final say.
“I'll be right back,” Aurelia notified Selene, only to return with a bundle of dollars.
He handed it to Selene while maintaining the frown on his face. He can't believe a day like this will emerge where the Alpha will pay to have a bride.
He believes every lady will be proud enough to be affiliated with the Alpha.
“Please treat her with care. She deserves to be pampered,” Selene pleaded with Aurelia.
Despite her betrayal towards Aria, she still has their atom of care towards her.
Several minutes have passed, and neither Aurelia nor Selene has returned. Aria was starting to become scared.
No one told her it would turn out this way. If only she knew her way home, she wouldn't have hesitated to leave immediately.
Suddenly, Alpha Raven and Aurelia, his BETA, showed up when Aria least expected.
