Mirrors and Reflection
The last time she checked, Raven lacked the power to appear in her room like a ghost.
Aria still had her eyes shut. She was hoping that when she opened it, the nightmare would be over.
Gradually, she opened her eyes to glare at the mirror one more time.
“Argh!” She screamed after Raven's face replaced her reflection.
Quickly, she dashed outside the bathroom with her towel wrapped around her waist.
She hides at one corner of the bed as her heart starts pounding like the drums of war.
Panic set in. And anxiety? It has spread all over her face like wildfire.
The question running through, yet mind is, “What's happening to me?”
She can't possibly think of what is wrong with her. She had the most peaceful last night in a long time.
If she had a nightmare, she would have assumed that it had to do with her change in reflection.
In the process of trying to figure out how to solve her mystery, she heard a loud knock from the living.
The type of noise that nearly ripped her soul apart. She experienced the shutdown of her vocal cords.
Her memory is slowly fading away like the evening sun. She can imagine Raven's past crawling in her memories.
“Aria, are you there? I need to see you,” Raven spoke from outside. He sounded worrisome.
As much as they haven't been cool with each other in recent times, Raven hasn't shown up this early to Aria's quarters before.
He didn't just show up early, he acted as though he was being chased by an angry wolf.
Aria maintained her silence. She was hoping that Raven would get tired of knocking and eventually leave.
How on earth will she explain to Raven that his soul just possessed her body?
“Bang!”
Aria hears a loud sound from the living room. She went into hiding after she heard footsteps approaching her room.
Suddenly, the footsteps stopped. Then came a voice, “I know you're in there. Please come out,”
Still, Aria was mute. She doesn't want to have anything to do with Raven anymore. She doesn't believe he has what it takes to solve her problems.
“Your soul may have just possessed my body,” Raven unleashed the bombshell.
“I can't feel my soul anymore. My whole thoughts are occupied by your past. And when I look in a mirror, all I see is your reflection,” Raven spilled more information than intended.
He had no plans of handling the situation like that. Sadly, he was left with no choice but to do it the hard way.
He needed someone to speak to, and the only name that came to his mind was Aria. He feels that she is in the best position to explain this mystery that has befallen him.
“Did you cast a spell on me?” Raven tossed another intrusive question. He is slowly losing his patience.
“No, I didn't,” Aria responded in a faint tone as she came out of her hiding place.
She felt the need to clear her name of any allegations that Raven must have leveled against her.
“I woke up in your body, Raven,” Aria finally confessed.
She wouldn't have imagined that Raven would be the first person she would confide in.
“What did you just say?” Raven exclaimed as his voice trailed off.
Ignoring his question, Aria went to her drawer and returned with a mirror.
She walked next to Raven and stared at the mirror. She ensured that Raven was glaring at the mirror too.
“This is crazy!” Raven panicked.
He had to conceal his mouth with the back of his palm to stop his yelling from alerting people passing by.
“What do we do now?”
Raven sought help.
“Are you even serious right now?” Aria giggled.
The laughter came from a place of pain. “You're the Alpha here. You ought to have the best solution, don't you?”
She hissed and returned to cement her butt on the bed. She rested her palms below her jawline.
Everything is happening so fast in her life. From getting married to a man she never loved to switching bodies.
“Oh, Selene, I hate you,” Aria gnashed her teeth in frustration.
“Oh, I hate you caused this,” she prepared her punch as though Selene were standing next to her.
While Aria kept groaning in frustration, Raven stood there to watch her.
He seemed clueless. That's the only time when he feels helpless about a situation.
He would have preferred to seek help from Aurelia. But after a second thought, he changed his mind. He can't trust anyone at this point.
“Alpha Raven!” Aurelia called out from outside.
His voice was so loud that it got Aria and Raven panicking like kids.
“Alpha Kael demands your presence at the council of elders meeting in the conference room,” Aurelia announced before his exit.
“Was he stalking me? How did he discover my whereabouts?” Raven asked no one in particular.
Alpha Kael is Raven's late father's brother. He was supposed to be the next Alpha until Raven's father appointed Raven instead.
Since then, Kael has always harbored that hate towards Raven.
Raven is aware of this. For enough reason he distanced himself from Kael.
Now it's about to get even worse for Raven. It's not a coincidence that Kael is hosting a meeting with the council of elders the same day Raven switched souls with Aria.
