Episode 1: The Disappearance
Detective Alex Thompson sat in his office, staring at the case files scattered across his desk. The latest case was giving him sleepless nights. A string of disappearances had plagued the city over the past month, and there seemed to be no pattern or motive behind them. People were simply vanishing into thin air, leaving no trace behind. As he flipped through the files, a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. It was his partner, Detective Sarah Monroe. "Got a minute, Alex?" Sarah asked, stepping into the office. "Sure, Sarah. What's up?" Alex replied, gesturing for her to take a seat. Sarah sat down and placed a new file on Alex's desk. "I think I've found a lead on the disappearances. Remember the case of the missing teenager, Emma Davis?" Alex nodded, recalling the case. Emma Davis, a 16-year-old girl, had vanished on her way home from school three weeks ago. Despite extensive searches, she has never been found. "I found something interesting in her social media accounts," Sarah continued. "She was part of an online group that calls themselves 'The Seekers.' They claim to have special abilities to see things others can't." Alex raised an eyebrow. "Special abilities? Like what?" "Like being able to see into the future or communicate with the dead," Sarah explained. "I think they might be connected to their disappearances. Emma's last post was about meeting with the group in an abandoned warehouse downtown." Alex grabbed his coat. "Let's pay this group a visit." --- The abandoned warehouse loomed before them, its dark exterior foreboding. Alex and Sarah approached cautiously, their flashlights cutting through the darkness. Inside, they found a group of people gathered around a table, deep in conversation. As Alex and Sarah entered, all eyes turned to them. "We're looking for 'The Seekers,'" Alex announced, flashing his badge. "We need to ask you some questions about Emma Davis." The group fell silent, exchanging nervous glances. Finally, a man stepped forward. He was tall, with piercing eyes and a confident demeanor. "I'm Ethan, the leader of 'The Seekers,'" he said. "We don't know anything about Emma Davis, but we might be able to help you find her." Alex and Sarah exchanged a skeptical look. "How?" Sarah asked. Ethan smiled mysteriously. "We have a gift. We can see things others can't. If you let us help, we might be able to find out what happened to Emma." --- Ethan led Alex and Sarah to a dimly lit room at the back of the warehouse. The group formed a circle, holding hands, and closed their eyes in concentration. After a few moments, Ethan spoke, his voice low and intense. "I saw a dark figure, lurking in the shadows. It's watching, waiting..." Suddenly, the lights flickered, and a loud crash echoed through the warehouse. When the lights came back on, Ethan was lying on the floor, unconscious. Alex and Sarah rushed to his side, but he was already coming to. He looked up at them, fear in his eyes. "We need to leave. Now," Ethan said, his voice urgent. "It's not safe here." Before Alex and Sarah could react, the warehouse began to shake, dust falling from the ceiling. They ran for the exit, narrowly avoiding a collapsing beam. As they emerged into the night, Alex turned to Ethan. "What was that? What did you see?" Ethan's face was pale. "I saw the darkness that took Emma. It's not human. It's something... ancient. And it's coming for all of us." To be continued...
