Chapter 3 Back To School

Early on Monday morning, I got up early to prepare for school. Even if I’m still mourning the loss of my mum, I still have to fulfill my promise to her.

I’m in my senior year of high school, so it’s time to take my studies to another level before the arrival of “CSAT”.

After getting ready, I went downstairs for breakfast. While eating, I noticed Sophia my stepsister coming to the dining too, I guess she’s also here for breakfast.

Good morning sister, she said greeting me sweetly, but I ignored her greetings not in the mood for any nonsense.

All of a sudden, she fell on the floor and started crying, I was taken aback, what’s wrong with her?

Then I noticed my dad walking towards the dining.

Sister, I know you don’t like me that’s why you pushed me but it’s not your fault, Sophia said sounding pitiful.

Sonia, is that how you should treat your sister? I’m so disappointed in you, you are bullying your sister? I should have known you are just a brat,my dad said lifting my sister off the ground.

I had a mixed feelings, shock, anger, helplessness, everything at once.

Yesterday, she accused me of pouring hot water on her today she’s accusing me of pushing her? It’s So ridiculous I thought that at least since we share the same blood I could consider them family.

I was really naive.

I looked at my dad in disbelief, taking my bag , I was about leaving the house when my dad called me.

Sonia, I enrolled your sister in your school so you have to take care of her, and do not dare bully her if not i will stop giving you your monthly allowance, he said.

I didn’t say anything, entering the car I closed the door, as I was about telling the driver to go my dad called out to me.

Sophia, get into the car from today hence forth, you will go to school together with your sister. do you hear me my darling?

Yes daddy, Sophia said acting weak and pitiful.

It seems my dad saw the anger on my face so he said to me.

Sonia if you are not happy about my decision you can start walking to school from today.

I was receiving one blow every single time.

First my mum’s death, then he brought his secret mistress and daughter home, then he start acting like a total stranger towards me, and now he wants me to share my car with this snake. Why me?

There are so many cars in the mansion why go with mine?

Fine dad, she can go with me, with that Sophia entered my car with her bag. I noticed she was wearing makeup but I wasn’t bothered.

The drive to school was silent, we didn’t even bother to look at each other’s face, I noticed she was using EarPods but I didn’t care.

When the car stopped, she quickly put her EarPods inside her school bag, after I came down from the car, she walked towards me then took hold of my arms when I wasn’t paying attention to her, taking me by surprise.

Then I turned around noting that there were a lot of students outside the school gate.

Sister, Sophia shouted loudly, enough for everyone to hear.

Sister what class will I be in? If I am in a different class I will definitely miss you she said shining her “watery eyes”.

Hello everyone my name is Sophia, Sonia younger sister, she said introducing her self to the crowd that gathered to watch.

After I got to my class room I settled down in my seat when my best friends came to me for gossip, I guess they heard about my sister.

Before they could ask another question, the bell rung for morning assembly, then the teacher entered the classroom.

After the assembly, class started. The teacher wrote the topic on the electronic board. She was teaching logarithm today. I really love this topic so I listened attentively.

After the class ended, I was thinking everyone in Bright wood high already heard about Sophia now.

Sonia Sonia, I came back to my senses realizing my friends were beside me again.

Hmm what is it now? I asked my friends.

Sonia, don’t tell me it’s what I’m thinking? Salome asked.

It’s lunch time already so i and my friends decided to go to the school cafeteria. Reaching the school cafeteria i sited Sophia walking towards me with a tray of food in her hands.

Oh lord!!! What is she planning, I said to myself unsure.

Sister, you are here I missed you so much. Sister you can have my food I will get another one for myself, she said pushing the food towards me.

All of a sudden, there was a loud crash in the school cafeteria.
