When Elena exited her room, she met her father in the corridor.
"Elena, I want to have a conversation with you," Mr. Simon said. He wore a white robe and black trousers and peered at his second daughter's face. He was about to sleep before he decided to come out and check on Elena again to see if she had stopped crying.
