DI Yarrow strode into the conference room for that morning’s briefing with the assembled investigative team. In addition to his usual team of Marcus Harding, Harry Rawlings, PCs Balderstone and Edgeley, and WPC Suzanne Fillmore, Dennis Brighouse, Eustace Pink and PC Percy Copper had been brought into the investigation as well as Adam McGuinness, a probationer detective recently posted to the West Garside CID. McGuinness was about 5’8” tall, very broad and strong across the shoulders and arms, and with his pugnacious face he looked like a bad-tempered bulldog; in fact ‘Bulldog’ had been his nickname at Police College where he had wrestled to a good level for the police team and was looking a wrestling club to join nearby.
