Police are treating the case as Attempted Murder.The Gazette can exclusively confirm that Palmer, 37 years old, the prime suspect in the murder of his wife Ethel, was found brutally beaten in the allotments on Tadcaster Road. The allotment holder, 76-year-old Albert Higginbottom, described Palmer’s injuries in 1916.
