Chapter 5

Alice’s POV

When we get back to the pack Maya parks the car and we both get out.

“You're not mad at me, are you?” Maya asks me.

“I’m not mad. It was a good surprise. I just wasn’t expecting it at all.” I reply to her

“Well that’s the definition of surprise, silly.” She says with a grin.

“Yeah yeah I know, but a little hint would have been nice.”

“Least now you have some experience for your mate.”

I roll my eyes “My mate better love me whether or not I know how to suck his c*ck. We are taught to wait for our mates. He can’t be mad at me for that.” I say with a little anger.

“If he’s mad at me for saving myself for him I will reject him.” I think to myself

“I will support you if that’s the case.” Sapphire says in my head.

“Thank you.” I reply

We both head to our separate rooms. Once I get to mine, I strip off my dress and hop in the shower. I scrub myself with vanilla and coconut scented body wash before I hop out and dry off. I don’t even bother to put on any clothes. I crawl directly into bed and scroll through the social media feed on my phone. Sleep eventually takes over.

I find myself walking along a path in a field filled with many flowers. I have never been here before, but it’s absolutely beautiful. The scent of many different flowers reaches my nostrils and I breathe deeper trying to take in as much as possible. I find myself filled with an immeasurable amount of joy and happiness at being alone in the field.

I see a ton of barn kittens playing hide and seek with one another among the flowers. The sight fills me with even more joy and happiness. I could cry tears of happiness. I see a black kitten launch itself at a calico kitten and they wrestle each other to the ground, biting and pawing at one another until they get bored.

Over in the distance, I see a wolf that is an auburn red color with deep blue eyes. This wolf seems to just be content watching me and kittens in the field full of flowers. I see her lay down with her head laying on her paws and she relaxes. I want to go over to the wolf and befriend her, but as I make my way over to her. She gets up and runs out of sight. I tried to follow her, but it seemed that she vanished into thin air.

“Alice!” I hear. I turn around to find the source of the noise, but I can’t seem to find anything.

“Alice!” I hear again, and this time I feel a hand on my shoulder. When I go to swat at the emptiness behind me, everything goes black.

I wake up to Maya screaming at me and shaking me.

“What’s going on? Why are you freaking out like that?”

“It’s almost time for your first shift Alice! You slept through dinner and I could barely wake you up just now! I have been trying for five minutes!” Maya shouts at me.

“I’m sorry, I was stuck in a really nice dream.” I tell her.

“You can tell me about your dream later. You know as well as I do, if you don’t shift during the full moon on your eighteenth birthday, you will lose your wolf! You need to get outside so you can shift like now.”

I quickly hop out of bed and grab a simple pair of shorts and a tank top. I’m just going to have to take them off again anyway.

“Okay, I’m ready.” I say

Maya immediately grabs my hand and runs with me downstairs. We go outside and run out to the woods where the alpha and everyone else in the pack is waiting for us. I see Axel already in his wolf form. He has a beautiful auburn red coat and deep blue eyes.

“Alice, you need to shift immediately. There is only about a minute left of the full moon in the sky. If you don’t shift, your wolf will be able to speak with you mentally but she will never be able to have her own form. You both will weaken and eventually die.” He told me with a sad smile.

“I will shift.” I say

I begin to strip my clothes off without caring who sees me. Standing fully naked in front of a bunch of werewolves is normal.

“Sapphire!” I say in my head

“Yes?” She replies

“Are you ready to shift?”

“You bet I am!”

“What do I do?”

“Relax your mind, try to just focus on my voice.” Sapphire says in a very soothing tone.

“Alice, you have to hurry!“ Both Maya and the Alpha shout in union.

“Just relax sweetie you're doing great!” My wolf soothes.

I feel my back pop and I scream out in pain. Then I feel my wrists break and my legs follow. I scream. The pain is agonizing. I fall to the ground, my entire body is slowly covering itself in blood and sweat. The bones in my body continue to break for what seems like an eternity, but it truly is just a few seconds. As sudden as everything started, it stopped. I open my eyes and I don’t feel like myself anymore. I don’t feel present in my body. The sensation makes me want to cry, but for some reason I can’t.

“Sweetie, it's okay. You're just seeing and hearing things with me at the front of your mind instead of yourself. You have been waiting your entire life for this moment. Breathe deeply, then look at yourself.” Sapphire soothes me.

I look down and instead of two feet I’m on four and instead of arms and legs I have paws! I’m my wolf! I finally have a wolf! I run over to the mirror that they have during someone’s first shift so they can do exactly what I’m about to do. I go over and look at myself in the mirror. I look exactly like my brother's wolf. The same auburn red fur and deep blue eyes. The only difference between my wolf and my brothers is he is bigger than I am.

I look exactly like the wolf in my dream. “Sapphire?”

“Yes?”

“Are you the wolf that was in my dream today?”

“I was. I sent you a dream of where I reside when I’m not at the front of your mind.”

“Awe Sapphire, that was so sweet of you. Thank you!”

“You're welcome. Now let’s go for a run with our family and pack!”

“You can lead. I’m not sure how to do everything in this form yet.”

“I’ll teach you, but for now let’s run with our pack.” Sapphire lets out a howl and runs toward my brother's wolf nipping the tip of his tail. He lets out a yowl and Sapphire takes the opportunity to get a head start running into the woods. My brother and the rest of the pack are not far behind.

We run until the orange hues in the horizon tell us the sun will be coming up soon. We begrudgingly ran back the way we came. I run right up to my pile of clothes, stepping on my shorts leaving a mud stain the shape of my paw on them.

“Sapphire, how do I shift back into my human form?”

“Focus on your human self and change from your wolf body to your human body.”

I did as she told me and it wasn’t long before I felt myself shifting back to my human form. I wince as I bend over to grab my shorts. I’m very sore.

“You will be sore the next couple of times we shift. Your body still has to get used to it. It will be less painful and faster the next time we shift.” Sapphire answers my unasked question in my head.

I begin to walk back to the house and I see Maya by the front door waiting for me. She has a sad expression on her face.

“What’s wrong?” I ask her.

“Nothing, I just really can’t wait to get my wolf.” Maya replies with an air of sadness.

“Saturday, you will get her on Saturday.” I say with a smile.

We head into the pack house and up to the Alpha floor. I really need to shower. I’m covered in mud and there’s twigs and leaves in my hair. Just as I am about to ask Maya if I could shower in her room, the most decadent smell of orange blossom and chocolate enters my nose.

“Mate, mate, go to mate.” Sapphire is chanting in my head.

“Where is mate?”

“Follow the scent!” Sapphire growls at me.

I do as she asks me and follow the scent all the way to Maya’s brother's bedroom door. Maya is right behind me looking very confused.

“No, no, no this can’t be happening.”

“Alice, what’s going on?” Maya asks.

Devin’s door slams open and he walks out nearly slamming into me. Our eyes meet

“Mate!” He exclaims

“Mate, mate, mate, we found mate!” Sapphire is chanting in my head giving me a headache.

“Mate!” I say out loud.

Devin pins me against the wall in a passionate kiss. He doesn’t seem to care that I'm dirty from my recent shift. He lets his hands roam up and down my sides trying to feel every inch of me through my shirt and shorts. Breaking the kiss he lets his lips roam from my jaw down to my neck, he lets his canines elongate and graze the spot he will mark me one day.

“HEY, GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!!!” Maya shouts

Devin breaks the kiss and he glares at Maya

“Mind your own business!”

“She is my friend. I am going to make sure she isn’t being delusional! Alice, is he really your mate?”

“Yes, Sapphire is going crazy in my head. She confirms he is our mate.”

“Okay, I am going to my room so I don’t vomit. Be careful Ally. I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Immediately when Maya disappears down the hall, Devin grabs me again. He picks me up by the back of my thighs and automatically my legs wrap around his torso. He walks me into his bedroom, slamming and locking the door behind him. Before I have a chance to look around the room, Devin drops me onto his bed. Immediately the scent of orange blossom and chocolate becomes intoxicating. I look up at him and he is looking back at me with as much lust in his eyes as I am feeling.

Within seconds his lips are on mine once again. I can feel his strong hands roaming up and down my thighs, igniting a feeling in my tummy that I have never felt before.

Bringing his hands up from my thighs he starts massaging my breasts through my shirt. I have no bra on! I flush red with embarrassment. The friction he is creating against me is eliciting small mo**s from me. I can feel his hot breath on my neck. He is licking and sucking on my sensitive neck. I know I am going to have marks when he is done, but it only makes my core even more insatiable. I can feel myself getting we**er by the second.

Devin’s POV

I am in my bedroom relaxing playing my Xbox. The sweet smell of jasmine and vanilla comes under the door. I thought I smelt it this morning too….

“Mate, mate, mate!” Ripper is screaming in my head. He has been going absolutely berserk all day!

“What do you mean, mate? We are on the Alpha floor, Ripper. No one comes up here unless they are our family.” I tell him with annoyance.

I feel Ripper surge forward, before I can react I’m no longer in control of my body. He shoves me far back into my mind so I have to just watch what he does. I fight for control, but Ripper is not having it. He gets up from the bed and runs to our bedroom door slamming it open. He tries to run out, but there’s something in his way. No, someone in his way. Ripper stops just shy of slamming into the she wolf in his way. Before he can let out a menacing growl, the scent of jasmine and vanilla fills our nose. She looks at me and I am met with chocolate brown eyes that are twinkling with lust.

“Mate!” Ripper says.

“No, we don’t want a mate!” I yell at Ripper, but he ignores me.

I hear this beautiful girl confirm we are mates and dread settles into my stomach. Ripper grabs her and starts kissing her. I am fighting him for control, but he continues to push me further and further back into the furthest part of my mind.

“No, no, no!!! Ripper, it’s Alice! You can’t hurt Alice!” I scream but he ignores me again.

He is letting our hands roam every part of Alice’s body and all I can do is try to scream for him to stop. But, all the stupid mutt does is ignore me.

“HEY, GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!!” I hear my sister shout. I have never been happier to have her interfering in my business.

“Mind your own business.” I hear myself saying. I fight desperately for control. My father and my pack will never accept a beta as their future Luna! It shows weakness. It will just make it harder in the end if Ripper mates with her.

“She is our mate! I don’t care what rank she is!” Ripper screams at me.

“So, now you talk to me!?” I scream back. He blocks our link entirely. I can just watch. I can’t do a single thing to make him stop…

I have to sit and watch while Maya, the last hope to save her best friend from the heartache she is about to endure, confirms that we are mates. I have to see her walk away before I see myself take my beautiful mate in my bedroom…tonight is going to be the best night of her life, until it isn’t…..

Alice’s POV

“I can smell your a*ousa* my little wolf.”

The sound of his husky voice only makes me even we**er.

He tears my shirt open and roams my body with his eyes. After my shift I didn’t put on any underwear. I am laying under him with nothing on besides my shorts. With a small growl of approval he starts to kiss me again all while playing with my ni***es. I lay under my very handsome hunk of a mate, taking in all the pleasure he is giving me. I can barely contain my mo**s of pure plea**re.

I feel one of my bre**ts get cold and I open my eyes to see his hands now moving lower to my shorts. My shorts are the only barrier there is between us. The more we touch and are close to one another the better everything feels. I start making uncontrollable noises not caring who hears us.

“I, Devin William Matthews, the future Alpha of Moon Cry Pack, reject Alice Jalen Paw as my mate and Luna.”

A terrible pain racks Alice’s body and she looks at him with her tear filled eyes.

“Why would you reject me? The moon goddess made me for you.”

“You are a beta. I need a strong woman of an alpha bloodline to take over the pack with me. I can’t have a beta. My father will not accept it! Accept the rejection!” He orders in his alpha tone.

“I, Alice Jalen Paw, daughter of Beta Thomas Paw of the Moon Cry Pack, accept your rejection” I say before sobs and pain wrack my body. I can feel the last part of our bond break. The one thing that I waited eighteen years for only lasted an hour. I can feel how heart broken Sapphire is that our mate would do this to us.

I am determined to show him I am not some weak Beta female! I gather up what remains of my clothes and I run out of the room and down to the beta floor. Luckily no one spots me. I am a sorry sight to see I’m sure. I am naked and dirty from my recent shift and I am crying my eyes out because of what happened with my so-called mate. I make it into my room and take a shower. I scrub extra hard to make sure I don’t smell like him anymore. He is not my mate!

“Why would the Moon Goddess pair me with a man that would do this to me?”

Devin’s POV

After Alice left in tears, Ripper finally gave me control back.

“Ripper, why the hell would you do that?!?” I scream at him.

“You didn’t want mate. You said she wouldn’t make a good Luna and I agree. So, I took what I wanted. I wanted to experience s*x with my mate. The Moon Goddess will not give us a second chance.” He says without emotion before he blocked the link.

I sit on my bed with my head in my hands. “What has Ripper done?”

I get up to shower. I dress in some pajamas and a tank top. I notice blood on the sheets. “F**k!” I say out loud. Ripper hurt her. He tore her heart out and there’s going to be no forgiveness. What is Maya going to think? She is going to be pissed, but Alice needs her best friend.

I make my way down to Maya’s room and knock. I get no response. I knock again and this time I hear grumbling behind the door before it opens to a very sleepy Maya. I take a deep breath and tell her everything that happened after she left. When I am done Maya punches me in the face and I let her.

“What have you done?” Punch. “You 're supposed to be the one to protect her.” Punch. “And here you are tearing her heart out?” Punch. “You're more of an a**hole than I thought you were!” Punch. When Maya is done, my entire face is bleeding, surely to bruise in the morning. I still feel like s**t. While I’m lost in my own thoughts, Maya knees me hard in the groin. I fall down to my knees wondering if I’m sterile or not now. She walks past me slamming my fingers in the door along the way. I know she’s going to comfort Alice.

I drag myself back to my room and throw myself face first down onto the bed. “Moon Goddess, what have I done?” I say out loud.

I feel a breeze against my face and then I hear a soft voice whisper in my ear- “You threw away what would have been the best thing in your life. You will not get a second chance. Alice will.” And with that, the mysterious voice left. I lay on my bed thinking about what a piece of sh*t I am…..
