Chapter 9

The Reaper stepped out of the thick white fog like a nightmare brought to life. He hadn’t shifted into his wolf form, yet he looked far more frightening than any beast Aloha had ever seen. He was big, standing well over six feet tall, with broad shoulders and a powerful build. Despite the freezing weather, he wore no shirt. His bronze skin was marked with war paint, dried blood, and ancient tribal tattoos that stretched across his chest and arms, each one telling the story of battles he had survived. In his right hand, he dragged a huge curved sword behind him. The heavy blade scraped across the gravel, leaving a deep groove in the road as he walked. This was the man everyone feared. “The Reaper of the Wilds” Standing between him and the luxury car was Greg, her assigned chauffeur . His silver handgun was raised, but his hands shook so badly that he could barely aim. “Stop!” Greg shouted, his voice cracking with fear. “This convoy belongs to the Nightfang Pack! Take another step and—” The Reaper never gave him the chance to finish. In the blink of an eye, he was standing right in front of him. Greg fired. The gunshot echoed through the forest. But The Reaper had already moved. He slipped past the bullet with impossible speed. Without drawing his sword, he casually swung the back of his hand. The impact echoed like thunder. Greg’s neck snapped instantly. His large body flew through the air before crashing against the side of the car. He slowly slid to the ground, leaving a streak of blood across the metal. His lifeless eyes stared blankly into the sky. Greg was dead and It had taken only a single strike. Inside the car, Aloha couldn’t breathe. The Reaper stood over the fallen guard without a trace of emotion. His breathing remained calm as he slowly turned toward the car. His cold, storm-gray eyes met hers through the reinforced window. Every instinct inside Aloha screamed at her to lock the doors, run, or hide. But fear rooted her to the seat. It wasn’t only his strength that terrified her. It was the overwhelming Alpha aura pouring from him. The pressure was so intense it felt like it was crushing the air around her, making it difficult to breathe. He didn’t bother trying the door handle. Instead, he shoved his fingers into the narrow gap between the door and its frame. The reinforced hinges snapped apart as though they were made of paper. With one powerful pull, he ripped the entire car door off its frame and hurled it deep into the forest. Cold wind rushed into the car, carrying the scents of pine trees, rain, and fresh blood. He stood before Aloha, blocking out the daylight. Slowly, he reached one large hand toward her. She opened her mouth and screamed, but her scream died the moment his hand wrapped around her upper arm. She squeezed her eyes shut, expecting unbearable pain. Instead… a burst of energy shot through her body. It wasn’t painful, It only felt like lightning racing through her veins, waking every nerve inside her. Her eyes flew open as everything around her changed. Warmth spread through her body, chasing away the cold that had gripped her only moments before. She looked up at the terrifying warrior and to her surprise he stood perfectly still. His large hand remained around her arm, but it had begun to tremble. He stared at the place where their skin touched as though he couldn’t believe what he was feeling. His chest rose and fell with heavy breaths as he leaned closer, inhaling her scent. A deep growl escaped him as he moaned “Mate”..
