-LILIAN-
Two years!!!
Two years in and I hadn’t been able to feel or smell the pheromones in me. I had always been punished, maltreated, and insulted just because I couldn’t bring him a child, but now it would finally end.
My hand moved to my stomach, caressing slowly where I had begun to sense my little wolf. The thought of finally having the family of my dreams courses through me, and I let out a smile. It had finally ended, and I had won this game.
“Thank you for your time, Doctor Brittany. As for the reports and announcements, I want to have the honor of telling the Alpha myself.”
“Take care of yourself, Luna.” She let out a smile as she handed the test reports to me.
… I stood in the kitchen, hands on the saucepan as I worked on our dinner. The aroma of the rabbit sauce was strong and soothing, almost making me drool. It was all for this day, the day I would be relieved of my misery and finally live like a true Luna and not a maiden tossed in the wolf’s lair to be tortured.
Three years back I was just a lady trying her best to survive. My parents had been murdered gruesomely during the battle between the wolves and the Orcs, and that had placed a curse on my inner wolf, shutting her out from my senses. I could shift like any normal wolf, but I couldn’t hold it for a day if I wanted to live.
My foster parents had treated me like a slave, making me work in the kitchen and do the chores while their real children just watched and belittled me. I became the mother, trying my best to survive while feeding a whole family who showed no appreciation.
My foster father, a crazy gambler and a drunkard, had always had me pay the debt of his troubles. I became his punching bag, and his wife just watched me with a frolicking smile on her face. It hurt; it really did.
Just when I thought I would be able to live on my own and leave my foster parents with their biological children, I am placed in shackles and walked to the Alpha’s Mansion. I didn’t know what to expect, my head spinning with each step I took.
I was exchanged for a suitcase of gold, left to survive his icy gaze while they became rich and enjoyed foreign labor. My husband, Alpha Drex, had frowned when he saw me in a maiden’s uniform. He fixed me up, made us compatible despite my illiteracy, and forced me to become the Luna ladies could look up to.
My joy knew no bounds knowing someone actually cared about my existence. I pitched in everything, putting myself on the line like a loyal dog no matter the direction he went. Suddenly, he changed. His icy gaze that made me so in love became the cause of my agony; my body grew into scars, and my mind felt the loss within.
“I want an heir,” he had spat out one night when he came home drunk. His hands were all over me, inflicting more scars onto my body. I took it all in, blaming myself that he deserves more and I would help deliver his heir. But now I don’t have to worry about it anymore…
The door flew open, the scent of sandalwood cloaking the entire room. I could feel his presence, the binding I had dedicated my life to reaching out to me.
I walked towards him with a smile on my face. My hands were wide open as I hoped to feel his warm hands all around me.
“Do you have a death wish?”
His icy glare hit me, and my hands came crashing to the ground. I could hear the thumps from my heart, my breathing becoming slow and unsteady.
I thought it would have stopped… He hasn’t heard the news; he’ll start treating me better afterwards.
I held my head high as I returned to the kitchen. He was lethal, but he had a heart; he would definitely change when he found out he now had an heir.
The table was set, the aroma of rabbit soup looming in the dining room. We were sitting in opposite chairs, a tradition he had created two years back for no reason. I had no say ever since he had bought me; submission was all I knew, but the tides would change…
“I have …,” we chorused, our eyes making contact.
It was a surprise to see that he also had something to say. His words were usually just “okay” and “later.” A conversation had to be the last thing we ever had.
“You go first.” I lowered my head, submitting to his dominance.
His eyes scanned the room, his muscles slowly becoming tense. I couldn’t think of anything that could come close to his words; he was a man of few words, which made every word seem like a miracle to me.
“Are you trying to assert dominance over me?” He growled.
I lowered my head, hoping he would see my submission to him with my facials. Words would cause trouble at this point, and I didn’t want the air to grow thin before I broke the news to him.
“Are you taking me for a fool?” His voice grew deeper.
“I would never.” I said, my gaze on the marble tiles. “I respect you and would never speak before you.”
A smirk appeared on his face, his red eyes glowing with zero affection. “It’s time I told you the truth, Lilian.”
I sat before him in suspense, my fingers wrapped around each other as I wondered what he had for me. A wave of fear ran through me as he walked towards his briefcase, returning with a document that contained barely any space for the white background.
He tossed the document towards me, his arms folded as he watched my every move.
“I have an heir, Lilian.”
