I raised my head up gradually, observing his muscular legs within the robes and his mighty physique. I couldn't see his face due to the skeleton mask on his face.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"..." I still hadn't recovered my voice, which made it much harder for me to explain myself. I couldn't tell if he understood or if he was starting to get pissed off by my silence.
"Explain yourself." His voice deepened, claws emerging from his fingertips.
"Stop," I communicated with my hands. "I can't speak."
He chuckled, his deep voice escaping from the mask. "So you're the silent assassin I've heard of. You must be one powerful lady to stand before me unshaken."
He had gotten it all wrong. My legs were shaking, and my hands had begun to tremble. Each time he spoke, I felt a chill run down my spine and his sinister aura, far deadlier than Drex.
"I'm just a lady who wants to drink water from the fall. I am not a threat." I moved my hands trying to communicate with him.
He didn't say anything for a while, his arms folded like he was waiting for me to come clean. I didn't move, staring at his mask which is in the darkness with the sun's illumination.
"Which manipulation technique is this?" He asked as he raised his claws up.
"There is no…" I couldn't feel my hands no more. My head began to hurt, my wounds trolling my body. I could feel the piercings of pain, my vision gradually becoming blurry.
"An intruder!" The sound of the guards played faint in my ears as I crashed into the stream of water, flowing with it.
I could still see the masked man, his arms folded as he watched me move with the waters. The thought of dying by his hands had been much more fearful than drowning in the water. Maybe it was time it all ended—my f****d-up life coming to a drastic end.
My limbs had all gone numb, the water lowering me to the deepest parts. I still held my breath, fighting for a life I knew I couldn't keep.
Just then, I felt the waves around me changing. A warm feeling of comfort enveloped me, and my head pressed onto something hard but flesh-filled. The image was blurry and looked like a dark abyss. Maybe it was a portal leading to the moon goddess.
I couldn't comprehend but it was sucking me in along with the water around me. I could only wish for a better second life where I wouldn't have to go through the hurt over and over again.
..…"What a beauty." A feminine voice played in my ears.
I opened my eyes to the face of a patched-up female wolf. She had scars all over, just like me, but hers weren't able to heal to a point where it didn't hurt anymore. It looked like a curse placed upon her or maybe a reminder from something she doesn't want to remember.
"Where am I?" I let out. "Why am I still alive?"
She let out a smile, clapping her hands. Two men walked in, and they turned out to be the guards at the waterfall. Did they save me?
"The name is Margaret. J and J here were the ones who brought you here under his orders." She explained. "This is the first time I'm hearing of such an occurrence, so it's strange. Do you by chance know him?"
I stared at Margaret, her long braids trailing past her waist as she sent me a curious look. I had no understanding of who she was talking about; there was only one person who came to mind…
"Do you mean the man in the skeleton mask?" I inquired.
"I wouldn't put it that way; I'm not ready to leave for the afterlife. But yes, that man." Her face lit up as she waited for my orders.
"You should be able to move fully now. He donated his blood to you and replaced your damaged organs." Margaret explained. "He ordered us to bring you to him when you've fully recovered."
I lowered my head, wondering why the man in the skeleton mask would do something like that for me. It was hard for me to believe that the man who wanted me dead had saved me.
I stood behind Margaret, my hands holding onto each other as I wondered why he wanted to see me. I could tell from Margaret's pulse that she was also scared, which made my fears much worse.
"Anything you see inside this chamber stays in this chamber; that's the only way you'll be able to live." She explained, her hand patting my shoulder as she brought me before her.
I tried to change positions and run behind her, but she was faster, pushing me into his chambers and watching the door close behind me.
I grunted, clapping off the sand particles on my palms. After dusting my dress, I brought my head up, ready to meet the man who had ordered me here.
"It would be nice if you learned the art of balance and not the trip fall of death." His deep voice crawled into my ears.
My body shook as the scent of tobacco swept through my nose. His sinister aura was far more intense than I remembered it to be, holding back the gravitational forces around me like I was being compressed.
He sat on a dark throne, red engraved markings streaming down like intricate designs. He was shirtless, his broad chest complimenting his well-sculpted abs, quite sexy, I suppose.
"I have no use for you. Just want to be sure you aren't like those two over there." He pointed his hand towards the right.
I turned my head towards the dimly lit room at the corner, trying to grasp the picture of what he was showing me. He chuckled, a snap following right after.
Drum rolls erupted from the chambers, candles suddenly kindled, and the dimly lit room became clear as day…
I staggered back, my hands covering my mouth as I spotted two female bodies hung naked from the ceiling and their organs slashed right out like a work of art.
"You have two choices here. Become my personal maiden or end up just like them ."
