A secret hall CHAPTER XVIII
Concerning Hairam and I, we were summoned by Queen Melimyid before we left the Kingdom. To our utter surprise, we were escorted by her to a secret hall in the depths of her palace. Having come before the gate, Melimyid commanded the guards to leave us; thereafter she pronounced an ancient and unknown formula, capable of turning the heavy hinges of shiny metal before our unbelieving eyes.
Beyond the threshold we could see nothing but utter darkness. The sovereign invited us to come in, where no light illuminated the path.
