6 Last night, Sadie had interrupted them before dinner, but they’d finally gotten to talk again after she’d gone to bed for the night. She’d agreed that faking it would be the best way to proceed for now. David had also mentioned calling a lawyer, to which she had agreed was the best thing to do. She didn’t like that he’d hired a private investigator but didn’t argue that either. If they were lucky, they could find out why it was so important that Sadie was Larry’s, and if they had that information, then possibly they could stop him from trying to force this. As to her mother, she hadn’t come back. She would, of course, but for now, she was gone. It would likely be a day or two before she showed up with a new tactic.
