David was worried. That was an understatement. He was internally freaking out as they waited for Larry and his mother to call.
Oh, he was doing his absolute best to pretend otherwise for Chloe’s sake, but she probably recognized the pacing he’d been doing for what it was—when she saw him, that is. She’d retreated to the bedroom not long after they talked to the lawyer and had only come down a few times since then.
The lawyer was going to call Larry and his mom and then put them in touch with Chloe and David. That was the plan anyway if they accepted. It was also possible they would hear from their lawyer instead.
