Luro’s POV The blanket of night had fallen over the packhouse; filling it with a deep silence; interrupted only by the chirping of nocturnal creatures. Now that imminent attack had been averted, everyone had relaxed. I got out of the bed quietly, making sure not to make any noise. The drawer squeaked as I opened it and took out a pen and a piece of paper. My fingers trembled as I scrawled out a note for Cedric. ‘I wanted to start a new life with you, Cedric.
