Luro’s POV
The blanket of night had fallen over the packhouse; filling it with a deep silence; interrupted only by the chirping of nocturnal creatures. Now that imminent attack had been averted, everyone had relaxed.
I got out of the bed quietly, making sure not to make any noise.
The drawer squeaked as I opened it and took out a pen and a piece of paper. My fingers trembled as I scrawled out a note for Cedric.
‘I wanted to start a new life with you, Cedric. But you were always reluctant to leave. Even now, you want us to stay back till the unification ceremony. Who is to say that you wouldn’t find another excuse after that?
