Hazel’s POV I stood there, my body still trembling from the force of what had just happened between us. The dark forest around us seemed to close in, thick and suffocating. The air was heavy with the scent of pine and earth, but it was nothing compared to the suffocating presence of Calix. He stood there, staring at me, adjusting his clothes like he hadn’t just torn me apart, like he hadn’t just claimed me so violently against that tree.
