Episode 4-Learning about the council

I wasn't in love with Hero, I told myself repeatedly as I got tormented by my memory with Nicholas. I fell asleep in the process of thinking about it and when I woke up I had a warm material covering me, I would have called it a blanket due to the amount of heat I felt with it on me but it wasn't thick...it was soft but glowing. I placed down my leg onto the warm surface and I moved towards the floating chairs in my room, all had a backrest and I smiled wondering if Hero had heard me talk about it when we ate in the dining.

There was food on the table, garnished with vegetables which I was surprised they had and I really appreciated Hero's effort but him being my mate and me being his wife was something I doubt I was ever going to accept. I loved Nicholas far too much for that. I sighed and sat at the table ready to eat when I saw a note on the table; it was a letter from Hero.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that" I smiled after reading the letter out loud.

"You look better Claire" I jumped at Barb's sudden intrusion into my thoughts.

"I'm sorry for startling you, I just noticed you were awake that's why I came" Barb apologized.

"No it's alright" I smiled in response. Barb similarities to humans never ceased to amaze me, Hero did a great job creating it. At least...with it around, I don't feel very much lonely. I heaved a deep sigh before I get started on the food.

"That's Igna" Barb pointed as my eyes widen in amazement after tasting a portion of food that tasted exactly like meat.

"Wow...it tasted exactly like human steak barb. This...igna...is amazing" I commented smiling as I took more slices of the food. Everything was great...Hero knew what freaks me out about the food was its appearance so he made an effort to garnish it.

"Where is Hero right now?" I asked Barb immediately after I cleaned my mouth with the handkerchief provided.

"He's in the gathering of the ruling council Claire-

"Ruling council? What's that?" I questioned and Barb floated to my side.

"The ruling council of the Ghafil empire has three systems and the king is above all. The first system comprises of the governors that answered to the king alone, then the ministers answer to the governors, and the chancellor answers to the ministers. The chancellor is closer to the Rhafils (people)-

"So close to the American ruling system" I commented.

"Yes...just like humans, time is changing for the Ghafils. It used to be just king, Queen, and chiefs but since the first human landed on their planets. They've evolved-

"I think I know something about that, so their system changed when the first human landed on the planet?" I asked shocked by the revelation.

"Yes Claire, they learned a lot from him and now...the Zullion galaxy is more advanced than the earth itself-

"I don't believe that-

"You've seen for yourself Claire, seeing is believing" Barb quoted and I laughed at how smart she was.

"Yeah but I don't think I believe...you think I can meet with Hero?" I asked not wanting to discuss things further with Barb.

"As the queen, you have every right to be in the gathering, I believe they are discussing the affairs of the Rhafils, you can go there if you want-

"I don't think that's a good idea. I just wanna see and talk to Hero, going to the gathering is a terrible idea. I mean look at me, I can't even speak like them-

"But you understand them...it doesn't matter Claire, I can translate for you-

"I really do not want to go-

"As the queen, I advise you make an appearance-

"This is really getting too much for me to get in...I mean I was dead, now I'm an alien, then a queen, then an alien mate...Barb, if you were in my shoes what would you do?" I asked hoping for an honest reply but Barb is just too smart.

"Humans and all living things have the adaptive ability, Claire, it already happened. Then you start getting used to it; learn about your environments, your people then harmonize with it. That's the only way you can find peace-

"You know for a robot you're too smart-

"Robots are supposed to be smart, to find solutions to every problem. The king knew you were brilliant. So he wanted to make something for more so it would be challenging and interesting to you. Then I was made" Barb replied confidently and I gave a loud huff.

"So, do you want to make your first appearance to the ruling council-?

"That 'ruling part' kinda freaks me out-

"You'd be fine Claire, I'm certain...but first you need to make a change of clothes" Barb suggested and I instinctively looked down at the dress I was wearing.

"What's wrong with this one?" I queried with my brows instantly furrowed.

"You wore it yesterday-

"How does time even work here?" I questioned and Barb floats to the table right in front of me.

"The morning is pointed out by clear skies and purple line at the far end of the horizon. The first star appears in the early afternoon and the second star-

"Star?" I gave her a cynical look recalling Hero had said something similar.

"The star is like the sun here and we have two of them" Barb explained and I sighed still wondering how the awesome planet wasn't discovered yet.

"The second star appears at dawn, late afternoon...then night. It brings with it the lower stars and the big Axle star always accompany the second star" I just stared Barb talked, I had no idea what she was talking about so...I just watched she talked.

"You have no idea what I'm saying do you?" But she was brilliant and quickly figured it out. I gave her an apologetic look and she popped an emoji rolling its eyes on the screen, it was funny but I couldn't laugh so I wouldn't annoy my robot companion.

"I'm sure you'll learn about it pretty soon, allow me to pick a dress for you" Barb requested moving over to bring out the concealed closet where she used projected light to move a particular neon dress. Barb wasn't made with arms or legs, in fact, her shape was like that of an egg except it had wheels for movement on the floor, she can float in the air or just wheel herself behind me. Being a science genius it was easy to tell she had picked the dress by some kind of wave energy which was like having a telekinetic ability but ignored how cool that was and slowly get into the dress she picked.

I don't know how I feel about going to the strange ruling council meeting, most importantly...I don't know how Hero will feel about it.

"You look nervous?" Barb pointed out the obvious and I exhaled deeply confirming her claim.

"You'll do great-

"What exactly am I doing?" I couldn't help asking suddenly feeling reluctant to leave the room, my only safe zone.

"You will be fine Claire, just relax and follow me" Barb was a persistent one, she led me out of the room and make me walk down the long hallway down the floating stairs, she lead me out of the castle which architecture I found breathtaking, it was unlike any I've ever seen. It was easy to have my neck twisted the way I wanted to catch the view of the glowing towers at once and also, I almost lost hold of Barb, she lead me into a very huge hall which I guessed was bigger than the safe house my mom had given us to stay in during the apocalypse episodes on earth

It was huge and long and at each side of the hall were terrified looking Ghafils, they were staring at Hero who stood gallantly in his beautiful golden robe but he had green bloodstains on his clothes and hand and at his foot lies the body of a dead Ghafils which from his dressing was a royalty. Hero was barking at one of the Ghafils guards standing by the pillar and the guard slowly pushed a royal Ghafil which was opposite to Hero towards him. The Rhafil was pleading for Hero to spare him but I've never seen such a disgusting face on Hero before, he grunted and took the man by the hand and pulled him towards him but his second hand inside the man's body stopped the man from moving closer. The shocked look on everyone's faces was overwhelming...Hero groaned coldly, abruptly pulling out his hand and removing the Ghafils heart making me scream and of course, gaining his attention.
