Anna`s Heart

Anna`s POV  My name is Anna. I am 16 year old and I live with my mom and my older brother, Steven. The only special thing about me is that I am, as my mom with put it...a bit of a late bloomer. What that actually means is that I am slow. My mom and Steve get really upset when I or other people use the word retarded. I never understood why... it is what it is. For the most part, I am a happy person, isn`t that what matter? I keep hearing it on TV and on the radio...love is all we need.  To be honest, most of the time, it`s really not that bad.  The only thing I can complain about is school. Mom really wants people to see me as "normal" so when the school people suggested that she put in the special ed program, oh Lord, I thought the school would fall down from all the yelling. So, I ended up with the regular kids and everyday is a struggle. "Every rain cloud has its silver lining" as they say and my silver lining to school is Darren. Darren is...perfect. He is tall, has brown chestnut hair and kind light brown eyes. He is the smartest student in my class. He always gets A+. He never backtalks to teachers and has never gotten into fights with anyone. He also plays baseball and likes the guitar. Now, my school has a zero bully tolerance. I really don`t get bullied. It`s just well, nobody speaks to me, which is fine on most days since I really have to think things through before I speak them and that just hurts.
