“Ror said he’d be my boyfriend,” Zane announced to Barry, Jimmy, and Jake.
Rory glanced at his wristwatch. They’d been on the Double J for precisely four minutes and twenty-five seconds.
The trio had come out to greet them, despite the steadily falling snow.
Barry frowned, Jake wore an I-thought-so smile, and Jimmy looked confused.
Jimmy was the first to speak. “You can’t. You’re straight.”
Jake snorted and tipped Jimmy’s hat down over his head. “Doofus.”
Jimmy pushed Jake, who pushed back.
“Boys!” Barry warned and got between them.
“Didn’t you see that Rory’s been carrying a torch for Big Z for months?” Jake asked, straightening his shirt. “And when Zane found out Rory had left for Kansas, he was off after him like his ass was on fire.”
