Chapter 38 - Becoming allies

2406 Words

Marcus’ large grey wolf slowly appeared from the greenery behind Charlie, stalking into the clearing with a deliberateness that made each rustle of his paw on the ground absorb every other sound in the area. Lucien moved his body in front of his son, muscles tensing as he eyed the wolf’s approach. Marcus didn’t spare more than a glance at the pair when he reached Charlie and immediately dipped his head to her wrists, giving a growl at the silver cuffs. “Oh, shush. They have been wrapped now so it's fine.” She pushed her shoulder slightly into his muzzle to nudge him away. “Is Luna Leah okay?” Marcus nodded and moved his body to stand protectively next to her sitting form. Charlie rolled her eyes and sighed, her eyes flicking between the thick air hovering between the two on-guard wolves.
