Panicked shouts jolted Charlie awake, making her fly bolt upright in bed. A heavy weight fell from her chest to her lap, and she peered down with unfocused eyes at the arm laying across her legs. Still finding her bearings, she followed the arm to a large bare body nestled against her side. Rays of sun shined through the window casting a warm glow over Jay’s body, tempting her to lie back down with him, but another panicked shout came through her mindlink, jarring her out of her mate fogged brain.
