Almost perfect

Adrian wasn't the only having nightmares lately, the only difference was that I wasn't dreaming of him becoming Strigoi like he was for me, I kept dreaming that my brother was still alive and my aunt and him had become strigoi. Most of the time I woke up screaming and Adrian would hold me in his arms and tell me everything was going to be okay. I knew as our times together grew longer that Adrian was always worrying about me. I stood looking in the mirror putting my earrings in, we were having dinner with Adrian's parents and as his fiance I wanted to make a good impression. "Babe you look perfect I promise." Adrian said coming up behind me as I ran a brush through my hair for the tenth time, I turned in his arms to look him in the eye. "I just don't want them to hate me." I said hiding my face against his shoulder. He pulled me back and kissed my forehead. "My mom will love you, I can't speak for my dad but hey," he put his finger under my chin making me look at him. "He doesn't care about me either so I doubt he'll even notice or even care that we're together." He held his hand out and when I took it we walked out heading to his parents house. Adrian knocked on the door and as it opened I suddenly felt very nervous. A woman came to the door smiling, Adrian embraced her then they both turned towards me. "Mom this is Kiera my fiance." he said pride emanating his voice. "Kiera, this is my mother Daniella." Daniella smiled hugging me. "Hello there dear." Adrian took my hand when his mother finally released me. Daniella led us to a living room. "Adrian do you want a drink?" his mother asked lifting a bottle of brandy, he looked at me for a moment than back at her. "No mom, I'm okay." I took his hand and smiled at him. "This girl really is special if you don't drink anymore." she laughed setting the bottle down. "He hasn't had a drink and he hasn't smoked in a year." I said with pride. Daniella smiled placing her hand on my knee. "I'm glad he met you, he needs someone who can straighten him out." Adrian squeezed my hand gently and smiled. "We're good for each other." he said with a grin, his good mood suddenly shifted and when I looked up I saw why. Nathan Ivashkov stood there looking over the room. "Hello dad." Adrian said suddenly very upset, I squeezed his hand softly, in return he wrapped his arm around my waist almost as if he needed the support. "Adrian, I see you've found a new victim, poor girl." Adrian glared at his father. "Don't. You. Dare insult my fiance." He spat through his teeth, that's when his father really took a good look at me. "You're a De La Cruz aren't you." I looked up at him. "How can you tell?" I asked honestly curious. "It's those sea foam green eyes." He said almost shocked. "I'm sorry princess for insulting you." he looked at Adrian another moment. "What no drinking?" He asked scowling at his son. "No I stopped for Kiera, smoking as well." Daniella smiled at me as Adrian's arm tightens around my waist. "And you guys are to be married?" He said finally focusing on my left hand. Adrian sighed softly when I started moving my hand up his back gently. Daniella spoke up then. "Time for dinner." She said standing up, Adrian stood up pulling me up beside him as we walked he stopped beside the door pulling me to him. "Don't worry Kiera I'm okay." he said softly playing with a loose strand of my hair. I kissed him softly fixing his shirt. "I'm not worried about me, Adrian. I'm worried about you." He kissed my cheek guiding me into the dining room. "So Kiera, you were raised by a human so how is your transition going?" Nathan asked as we finished our dinner. I looked at Nathan my eyes wide. "Umm.. My transition went fine, it took me a while to get it right." Adrian glared at his father. "Kiera, I think it's time we go home." I stood up at the same time he did and turned to leave. "Adrian, Kiera, wait." Daniella stood behind us her face clearly upset, "You know he doesn't mean any harm Adrian." she said, I looked up at Adrian and could tell that it took a lot of control to keep my usually free spirited fiance from yelling. "Mom he doesn't know when to stop so I'm taking my fiance home away from him. Kiera let's go." I smiled apologetically back at Daniella and followed Adrian out the door holding his hand tightly. "Kiera, I'm so sorry for how my father treated you." Adrian said changing into his pajama pants, I came up behind him wrapping my arms around his waist kissing his shoulder. "I'm fine Adrian, I'm used to being criticized, I'm a singer it's what I do." I said pulling him to our bed, when he finally sat beside me, I pulled him down to me and started humming. "Relax my love it's over now." he sighed as his eyes slowly began to droop closed as he fell asleep. After I put his head on his pillow I ran to the bathroom and threw up. CLIFF HANGER(well sorta)
