Chapter 18

1094 Words
Amelia's POV She was just sitting there. On the cold floor, with a lollipop in her hand now. Holding that pink rabbit stuffed teddy bear. Staring at me like I was the prize possession. She didn't say anything though. We were just sitting on opposite sides of this cage staring, blinking at each other. I tilted my head to the right, and then she mimicked me. I did it to the left, and she did it to the left as well. She had to be the age of 6, judging by her innocent acts and her little mimicking behavior, then again she could be playing me for a fool at that moment. I have no clue how long we were just going to stare at each other, but I went to eat my food that the maid left. It had to be hours now. She was still sitting there, watching me with that teddy bear in her hand. She watched my every movement as if she were a stalker or watching her favorite show. It was weird, but then again, this is what children do on a normal. They just watch with amazement, but then again, their sticky fingers get into things as well. I couldn't figure out a way of escaping if she is going to just sit there and watch me. Someone had to break the ice... but what do you say when you are being held captive in someone's home who could or could not be her father? Do you even introduce her to that type of- "So... are you going to say something? You have been staring at me for a little bit, and it is creeeepy." She completely broke me out of my thoughts. I was shocked she even started the conversation. I walked back over to the bars and crossed my arms over my chest. "Well... according to my knowledge, children are taught not to talk to strangers. So what makes you so comfortable, talking to me?" "Chu... are behind bars.... and can't get to me. So... friend I could talk to you. Because Chu can nooooooot hurt me from the other side of those bars." She did have a point, actually. Kid is smarter than I gave her credit for. "So... then.... what's your name?" "My name is secret. That's what everyone keeps telling me. I am a secret. The people here.... they try to keep me in that room but I leave when no one is looking for me." "You're... a secret. Why would you be a secret unless you are related to the one that-" "Yeah.... dada put you here. Dada puts a lot of women here. They go bye-bye after a while, so I have a lot of talking friends. Some of them are working upstairs, but now they don't pay me any mind when I see them. They are meanies now." I could see the despair on her face. I guess being a child with no one to really talk to or that people are keeping you a secret for your life is not something to be proud of, huh? I sat down in front of her, sitting in front of her while she gripped her teddy a bit. "Life... is sometimes a meanie. It is just how you handle it. Are you going to get knocked down by it or are you willing to change it?" "I want... I want to go outside." "You never been outside?" She shook her head no, popped her thumb into her mouth and bit on it. She chewed on her thumb a bit and sighed when she was finished. "Why... not? This place got to have... like something you could run around or something?" "I ask.... for a playground and dada said no. He said too dangerous and not to argue with him because he is bigger, and I am smaller, and I do not make rules, so I will just stay put for now." "For... now? What do you mean?" "The people here... do not pay me mind. They think I am stupid... but I am smart. I got the key to the outside. I'm gonna go outside to the garden and go play on the grass. No one can tell me no if they do not catch me." This girl was smart for her age. She made a lot of points, but however, how would she know if people were looking for her? "I know what you are thinking. You're thinking how would I know? Well, I got that covered as well. I got cameras and I took one of the guards camera. So all I have to do… is watch when they are coming and sneak back in. That's it. It is that simple." "It is that simple that you have to do the plan and then something goes wrong and then, boom, you get into trouble." "Well... for your four one, one, I have been sneaking out of the room for weeks. I haven't gotten caught yet." "Do you have the camera for it now or are you planning on getting it?" "You didn't pay attention to me when I said I have the guards' camera, were you?" "Must have tuned you out a bit. Alright, so what now then?" "Well... the guards are coming back. So I need to go. I will come back tomorrow for a play date." "A... play date?" "Well... duh. Might as well do something instead of sitting here doing nothing like you are." She got up off the floor, along with her things being held against their will, and brushed herself off. "By the way... the last girl tried to escape by digging. There are alarms in the walls, so I hope you are not doing that." I blinked repeatedly and didn't even try to break eye contact with her. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away from the cell. I wonder if she was telling the truth. I would have to think about it, but then again, why would she lie? She did say multiple women came here and then they disappeared. Maybe that was the reason they were disappearing. Because they hit something in the walls and, well... got the death hand handed to them. I sighed and walked to the bed and laid down. How long will I have to be down here in order to figure out how to get the hell up out of here and show that arrogant ass that I will win this cat and mouse game of ours.
