Chapter 4

Ase

Katy and I worked quickly doing an early lunch for the unwelcome and unexpected guests.

We did just what we could get done quickly as they were being shown to their rooms.

As we were laying everything on the table in the dining room, my worst nightmare had to appear, still not changed from being a brat, Ashley.

I had my back to her when that whining voice could be heard behind me.

''Finally, some food! I'm starving. Can you hurry up and get out of the way, filthy Omegas!' It was not a question. It was a demand.

Still not changed, thinking she is superior to all. The same can be said for her clothes: short shorts that are just about fit, high heel wedges, and a crop top. Nothing was left to the imagination. I know it was hot outside, but still. She looks like she is getting ready to meet a male in a club the humans go to.

I see Katy get annoyed. This girl can go from 0 to 60 in less than a second. Thankfully, it was aimed at me and not her or consequences be damned. I slightly shook my head to Katy and rolled my eyes with a slight smirk on my face.

''Hello, are you going to move? Like you are making me lose my appetite, do you know who I am?'' Ashley's voice carried on as we ignored her, doing our jobs like we always do. One thing with Ashley is that she talks very loudly. We do not answer her, nor shall we rise to the bait. I know Ashley. She will keep going, trying to get you to react so she can be the victim.

''I am a f*****g Luna b***h hurry up and move!'' She said snarling.

Katy and I had just finished what we were doing when the 'guest', my so-called cousin William, and father Aric, walked to the dining room. Odin and Loki are just behind the doorway. Classic Ashley, she threw herself into Williams arms. Crocodile tears at the ready, hugging him tight.

''Babe, they were so rude to me, they wouldn't let me sit down and told me to go away’ Ashley said with a shout to make sure the whole pack house had heard her.

Classic Ashley, make a scene, get all the pack house on her side to witness your punishment. One thing she did not count on: She was not at home with daddy to back her or my uncle to listen.

Father took one look at Katy, and I raised an eyebrow, we just shrugged our shoulders.

''I am sorry, Luna Ashley, but I do find that hard to believe.' Father said calmly. He was the best, always sticking up for his pack. Unless he knows they have done wrong, then it is a private punishment. Nothing ever harsh with his punishments, just giving the horrible jobs to you for a week and no training.

Also, knowing my past, he knows who Ashley is and what she is capable of, as I say classic Ashley. She may have gotten older, but she has never changed.

''WHAT'' Wow, she still has that shriek. We all winced at that. She forgets how we have good hearing, how William and Beta Conner have any ear drums left.

''Alpha Aric, are you saying you do not believe my Luna?'' William went to the rescue. He didn't look happy with father sticking up for us. Of course, he would make sure us to be punished. He loved to get involved with them.

''Yes Alpha, as you would know if these girls said anything. For a start, we would hear them speak, not just your Luna trying to throw her weight and title around. Second, my girls would not speak to anyone in that manner, especially when they were rude to them.'' The faces of Ashley and William were just brilliant, like two fishes out of water gasping for breath. Sorry, but daddies are not here to help you.

''Now if you would like to take a seat, we should have our lunch and then go to the office to go over some things.'' Father Aric said, everyone sitting down at the table. Ashley and William did not look happy. Looking through the kitchen door I was surprised to see their Beta had joined them at the table. Surprisingly, their Beta, if I remember his name right Conner. He looked as if he was trying to fight a smirk. Interesting. He had just walked down the stairs when Ashley threw her tantrum and me and Katy walking through the kitchen door.

Beta Conner came to Pinewoods a week before I left, so I had not seen him much. I do not know anything about him.

William glared at Katy and I when we were walking out. I could see through the door, which had glass windows, Conner started to eat after seeing father starting to eat.

Ashley sat like a pouting child as if she had made a fool of herself, and William just sat glaring. They finally started to eat. I could see Ashley wanted to say more but didn't dare.

In the kitchen, we finished lunch for everyone when they finished their training. Made sure the kitchen was clean for the next people in here.

When we had entered the kitchen after the brats tantrum, we just burst out laughing, trying to keep it quiet.

''It has been a long time coming to witness that. Turns out this was well worth letting them come here.'' I managed to say between giggles.

How I have dreamed about this moment, how someone would stick up for me with them two. Truly a dream come true.

''Her face was the best, but damn, how the hell did you put up with them for so long! I would have killed them a long time ago.''

''I know, it was hard, being so weak the way I was, no training and all that, I couldn’t do anything to defend myself.''

''I see now the stories you told of her are true. Honestly, I thought you exaggerated a bit. I never knew someone was like that! I’m sorry I didn’t fully believe you.''

'' It's ok Katy, I understand. If I had never witnessed it, I wouldn’t fully believe it, plus this pack is so different from other packs, they all go by titles why we don’t. They do not help each other as we do. They are more for themselves and have all the new technology, money and designer clothes, even ones who are just working class they need to keep up their appearance.''

''That sounds like a s**t life, always being in competition with each other’s crap, no, thanks!''

I had to laugh, but yes, I couldn't agree more. I love where I am, how we all help each other. Nothing is a problem, we all come together. A true community. Everyone is equal.

''Tell me again Ase, what is an Omega, because if that b***h is insulting me, I'm going to smack her one.''

That was it. I lost it. I had the biggest laugh ever.

''Do not worry Katy, you are nowhere near an Omega. I'll tell you when the visit is over. Or more witnesses around.''

The rest of the day was quiet, which was surprising for this lot here. We finished off our shift and went and hit the training grounds.

Dinner we had separate from William, Ashley and Conner. The Pinewoods warriors all sat with us in the kitchen, we had long tables for the warriors who ate here. William, Ashley, Conner and father, Oden and Loki sat in the dining room which is for visiting alphas.

The warriors of Pinewoods pack are not allowed to sit with the higher ups, it is too disrespectful.

Everyone here got along with them great, laughing away, chatting, sharing stories. I was on edge, not fully relaxing, wondering if someone would pop up and shout who I was.

I do not believe they have realized it is me yet, nor William and Ashley. The more I stay away from William and Ashley the better.

I do want to ask the questions that have burned my mind for years, but also, when seeing them again, I feel free and do not care about them and don't want to care about the questions. I feel a bit torn but leaning more to not caring.

I have the most amazing life. I am just worried about opening that can of worms, to find out who I am, why they hate me and treat me the way they did. Why was my mother killed? I know they were part of my mother's death. I do not want to give away who I am asking these questions.

Again, just seeing them, I feel I do not care about those answers. I just want to cut all ties.

Katy was a bit on edge looking around. She talked about a smell and wanted to know who had the best aftershave she had smelt but could not find the wearer. She seemed a bit down, and I think scared a few warriors getting close to smell them. I think they thought she was nuts going on about the smell.

I reassured her we would find that smell.

I wonder who her mate is?
