Story Time

Ashleigh Branson shivered as she walked into the warm, familiar library. The winter air was thick and cold, so she was glad to be in the heated library. She waved to the librarian and headed over to her favorite section: Horror. She scanned the shelves and saw a flashy new cover at the end of one of them. She grabbed the book and walked back to the front desk flipping it open as she did. "New shipment?" Ashleigh asked the man behind the desk as she started to read the first page. "Er...the last shipment we got was last month Ash, you know that," He said, chuckling as he looked up at her. "Oh. Right, I just thought you got another one. This book looks brand new.." She murmured, still reading. The main character's name also happened to be Ashleigh, so of course, the real Ashleigh was intrigued by the similarity. "Yeah, I guess it does. You gonna check it out?" He said, smiling up at her politely. Ashleigh decided that she felt too connected to the main character to not check it out, so she smiled back at him and said, "Yeah, why not?" She quickly got her library card out of her purse and hand it to him. After he gave it back, she smiled at him once more then headed back into the cold weather. Ashleigh drove straight home, barely looking at the trees that surrounded her house. She walked in, book in hand, took her shoes off, and curled up on her couch, settling down to read for a bit.
