Manson Lee, the formidable Alpha King, is a man of power, duty, and unshakable control. Known for his ruthless leadership and icy demeanor, he has never allowed himself to be swayed by emotions or the idea of a fated mate. But when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Ruby, something shifts within him. Her strength, intelligence, and quiet defiance ignite a fire he cannot ignore, and he realizes she is the one who has been destined for him all along.

However, Ruby wants nothing to do with him or the mate bond she no longer believes in. Manson, determined to win her trust and heart, must confront his own past mistakes and prove that love can indeed change fate. As he relentlessly pursues her, Ruby finds herself torn between her hardened heart and the undeniable pull she feels toward him.

Chapter 1: The Rejected Omega
Ruby The scent of blood clung to my skin as I wiped my hands on a rag, exhaustion settling deep into my bones. Another long night in the pack’s infirmary, another life saved, yet no one would thank me. Omegas like me weren’t meant to be respected, only tolerated. But I didn’t do this for gratitude. I did it because it was the only thing that made me feel alive. The door creaked open, and my best friend, Leah, peeked her head inside. “You should get some rest, Ruby. You’ve been up for two days straight.” I sighed, shaking my head. “Can’t. Alpha Graham wants me to check on the patrol team before dawn.” Her expression darkened. “He treats you like a workhorse. You should leave this place.” Leave? The thought had crossed my mind a hundred times, but where would I go? I was an Omega, a rejected one at that. No other pack would take me in, and rogues didn’t survive long. “This is my home,” I said, but the words felt hollow. Leah sighed. “Then at least eat something. I saved you some bread from the kitchen.” She handed me a small cloth-wrapped bundle, and my stomach twisted not from hunger, but from guilt. Leah risked punishments just to make sure I didn’t starve. Before I could thank her, a loud commotion outside caught our attention. “Make way for the Alpha King!” someone shouted. Leah’s eyes widened. “What’s he doing here?” I stiffened. Alpha King Manson Lee? Here? That was impossible. He ruled over the entire werewolf kingdom why would he bother with a small pack like ours? The ground trembled beneath heavy paws as warriors in wolf form rushed into the packhouse courtyard. I barely had time to react before the front doors were thrown open, and a towering figure stepped inside. Manson Lee. His presence sucked the air from the room. Power radiated from him, rolling off his broad shoulders like a storm barely held in check. His golden eyes swept over the room, assessing, calculating. The Alpha King was everything the rumors claimed ruthless, untouchable, and terrifyingly beautiful. I took a step back, my heart hammering in my chest. His gaze locked onto me. Time stood still. I wasn’t sure if it was instinct or some cruel twist of fate, but the moment our eyes met, the mate bond snapped into place. A force so strong, so undeniable, I almost staggered under its weight. No. No, this couldn’t be happening. I had given up on the mate bond. I refused to feel it. I tore my gaze away and turned on my heel, intending to flee, but a deep, commanding voice stopped me in my tracks. “Don’t run from me.” The raw authority in his words rooted me in place. I swallowed hard and forced myself to turn back around. His golden eyes burned into mine, confusion flickering in their depths. “You’re my mate,” he said as if confirming it to himself. I lifted my chin. “I don’t want a mate.” A stunned silence fell over the room. Warriors exchanged shocked glances, and I could hear Leah’s sharp inhale beside me. No one no one spoke to the Alpha King like that. His expression darkened, but not with anger. With something far more dangerous. Amusement. “You don’t get to decide that, little Omega,” he murmured, taking a step closer. The air between us crackled with tension. Every instinct in me screamed to run, to fight, to resist the pull of fate. Because if I let myself believe even for a second that this could be real, it would only end in heartbreak. And I wasn’t sure I would survive it. Ruby I clenched my fists to stop them from shaking. The Alpha King my mate stood mere feet away, his golden eyes locked onto mine like a predator who had found his prey. The weight of his presence was suffocating, his raw power pressing against my skin like a brand. But I refused to let it affect me. I had spent too many years convincing myself that I didn’t need a mate. That the mate bond was a cruel joke the Moon Goddess had played on me. And now, the strongest werewolf in existence stood before me, claiming I was his. I lifted my chin defiantly. “I don’t care if the bond exists. I don’t want a mate. And I certainly don’t want you.” The room seemed to shrink. A hushed murmur swept through the gathered pack members, their eyes darting between me and the Alpha King in horror. Rejecting a mate was one thing. Rejecting the Alpha King? Suicide. But Manson didn’t explode in rage. He didn’t snarl or demand my submission. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, as if I had just presented him with an intriguing puzzle. And then he smirked. A slow, knowing smirk that sent a shiver down my spine. “You think you have a choice in this, little Omega?” His voice was deep, smooth, laced with amusement but beneath it, there was something else. Possession. I took a step back, but he followed. I hated the way my body reacted, the way my wolf stirred at the proximity of her mate. No. I will not fall for this. “You don’t know me,” I said, forcing my voice to remain steady. “You don’t know what I’ve been through. I’ve already been rejected once, and I survived. I don’t need a mate.” The smirk vanished. For a brief second, something flickered in his eyes understanding? No. Not possible. His gaze swept over me, sharp and assessing. “Who rejected you?” I froze. I had spoken too much. My silence was all the answer he needed. A dangerous growl rumbled in his chest, low and threatening. “Who. Rejected. You?” The entire packhouse held its breath. I forced my expression into something neutral. “It doesn’t matter. That was a long time ago. I moved on.” Manson’s golden eyes darkened. His fingers twitched at his sides as if resisting the urge to reach for me. “It matters to me,” he said, his voice dangerously quiet. I swallowed hard. He’s testing me. Watching. Waiting. I turned my back to him, my heart racing. “You’ll get over it. The mate bond might be strong, but even the Alpha King can’t force someone to stay by his side.” I felt the air shift behind me a for second before a strong hand grabbed my wrist. I gasped as heat surged through my skin at his touch. My wolf whimpered at the contact, wanting nothing more than to submit to our mate. I refused. Manson pulled me around to face him, his grip firm but not painful. His golden eyes burned with intensity, his expression unreadable. “You think I’ll just let you walk away?” His voice was soft, yet laced with undeniable authority. “That’s not how this works, Ruby.” I ignored the way my name sounded on his lips, the way it sent a shiver down my spine. “I don’t belong to you,” I whispered. A muscle in his jaw ticked. Then, slowly, deliberately, he pulled me closer until I was forced to tilt my head back to meet his gaze. “You are mine,” he murmured, his breath warm against my skin. “And I don’t let what’s mine slip through my fingers.” My breath hitched. He meant it. Every single word. I should have felt terrified. Angry. Defiant. But instead… I felt something far more dangerous. Hope. I ripped my hand away, my pulse pounding. “You don’t own me,” I snapped, stepping back. “And I will never accept you as my mate.” Manson’s smirk returned, but this time, there was something predatory about it. As if my defiance only made me more intriguing to him. “We’ll see about that, little Omega.” And with that, he turned on his heel and walked away. But I knew, deep in my bones… This wasn’t over. It was just the beginning.
