Lies are tossed and truth is spoken
Elijah’s businesses were slowly deterring after the unwelcome visit from the Romero's he'd woken a mont later from his ckna and he was looking business like he'd been warned he should've listened but he had chosen not to know he was learning the hard way. He was beaten, bruised and left unconscious. He had fought long and hard with the three men that had approached him but had finally listened to the battle when the last and final blow had came the back of his head.
Jasper had driven up to the campus last night Alaina had no idea he was there he'd asked luca to keep it a secret so he could surprise her, he nodded he'd sure do that. They'd both kept a big secret for three years now Elijah Rivera had been taken care of they could finally tell Alaina the truth, but how would she take it?
Luca and Alaina walked hand in hand through the campus grounds; they'd both had their final exams for this semester and were both looking forward to spending time alone. "I'd like you to meet someone angel."
"Okay." She said nervously.
"No need to be nervous, angel, he's family. I'm sure he'll like you."
She looked at him questionably, she thought she'd met all of his family.
Jasper had his back to them as they approached him.
"Alaina, I'd like you to meet my cousin; Jasper Romano."
Jasper turned around, her mouth fell agape and her face paled.
"Surprise!" He grinned widely.
"Jasper. "
He continued grinning.
'I don't understand how? I thought you worked for Elijah how can you two possibly be…"
"Let's sit down and I'll explain."
She nodded and they all walked over to a bench sitting down. He took her hands in his. He looked into her eyes. "Elijah doesn't know my family background Alaina. It was all wiped before he hired me, for a fake past."
"But why? I don't understand."
"I couldn't risk him knowing I was a Romano. He's been after the family businesses for a long time, so my identity was changed so I could find out about what he was planning."
"And did you?"
"We did more than that Alaina, we also found out that he had had a hit out on you. He didn't trust you to stick to the contract so he put a hit out in you."
"Oh my god."
"I promised you I'd protect you and I did. I contacted Luca once you left for uni. I knew he was out here, so I called him and he agreed to take care of you."
She looked at Luca. "You were using me?"
"No angel. I was only protecting you. You have to believe me. All my intentions were good. You needed to be protected by us from the Rivera family."
"I trusted you."
"And you still can, angel. I'd lay my life down for you. I have loved you since the moment I saw you."
She looked into his eyes, they held love in them and many other emotions. She smiled at him. "I love you too."
He pulled her close pecking her lips. "Get a room guys!" Jasper laughed.
Luca smirked.
Jasper looked defeated ag Alaina. "I'm sorry I kept all of this from you Alaina, but we wanted to keep you safe. Especially when we found out who he contacted when he put the hit out on you."
"Who?"
"You're not going to like this."
"Just tell md Jasper."
"Your Dean."
"Excuse me ? You what? Did I hear you right, did you just say Mason was supposed to kill me?"
"He was, on your first day. Elijah had it all planned out. He had expected you to file for divorce, but not until you left uni, but you took him by surprise. He was so angry he called Mason terminating your course funding telling Mason to do what he had to do to get rid of you without a trace though there was noone to notice you missing.
Luca and I kept in contact, we bugged his office so we knew exactly the conversation he had with Elijah. Luca sent some of his men in to put the shits up on him. They did exactly that.
When you went into his office the plan was to get rid of you, but Mason realised that everything Elijah had fed him was total and utter bullshit.
Problem was Mason had fell for you before he agreed to take you out. We all knew the truth but you. And we're sorry Alaina. We know this is a lot to take in but we had to be careful so Elijah never suspected anything. And he didn't.”
She stared at them, with a blank face.
"Say something Alaina."
"I'm sorry. I need time to think."
They both nodded. Jaspers hands fell from hers when she stood up walking away not looking back. "I can't believe they both lied to me the two people I trusted lied to me." She said wiping a stray tear. She had no idea how long it would take to forgive them.
Dreams are lost and hearts are broken
I felt defeated and defeated after finding out and knowing the truth. I couldn't really hate either Jasper or Luca cause I knew they were only looking out for me, I was just disappointed in them for not telling me sooner.
I wasn't even sure how I was going to face Mason when our final year at uni began. He'd helped me do much to get into the course I wanted to study as well as a business major.
I couldn't believe that he was willing to sacrifice my life on a whim through Elijah’s bullshit.
Summer had officially come to an end me and Luca were still going string Elijah hadn’t even attempted to send anyone to send another warning, Jasper had gone home two weeks ago so me and Luca could have some "alone time".
I would miss him. He's like a big brother that I never had. We had all made up and promised that neither of them would hide anything from me ever again.
The time has finally came to go back to uni. I had been dreading this day for the past two months. I wasn't ready to face Mason yet after everything, but I would have to eventually.
Luca slid his fingers in mine intwining them. "Everything is going to be okay angel."
I nodded, not too sure.
We walked into campus and a voice boomed over the microphone. "Will Miss. Alaina please go to the dean's office!"
I gulped.
"Come on, let's get this over and done with."
I nodeed.
"I'll wait outside for you okay?"
"Okay thanks"
Luca smiled and pecked me on the cheek letting go of my hand. "I'll be right here."
I nodded, going over to the door, swallowing hard, taking a deep breath, knocking on the door.
"It's open, come in."
Well, here goes nothing. I opened the door pushing it stepping in. "Close the door Alaina. "
His the hell did he know it was me, of course he called for me.
"Take a seat Alaina."
I nodded sitting in the chair across from him. He looked up. "How are you Alaina?"
"Good." I squeaked. I cleared my throat "Good, really good."
He smiled. "So..your summer break was good?"
"It was."
He smiles.
"Cut to the chase Mason, why did you call me in here!"
"That's no way to talk to you dean is it Miss. Hamilton?
"I know I'm sorry."
He smiled. "It's fine." He said looking at making me nervous.
"No need to be nervous Alaina, I called you in tk let you know there is a change to you timetable this year."
"Oh okay."
"I have added accounting and law to your previous time table knowing that you are the brightest student here and you'll be assigned to me as my intern this year as my administrator."
"Bu.."
"No need to thank me Alaina it's the least I could do after everything."
I nodded. This was going to be the worst year of my entire life.
"Here's you time table please memorise it and I'll see you this afternoon Alaina."
I took the timetable off him. “I'll see you later sir."
"You will." He grinned.
I knew that grin anywhere it was a sickly grin. I'd seen it so many times plastered on Elijah’s face. I nodded, feeling sick.
I left the office closing the door. Luca looked up at me. "Well?"
"He changed my time table so that I have to work alongside him for the year as his administrator."
"Let's take a look."
I nodded, passing him my time table. We both read through my new timetable, I can't believe I have to spend half my time with a guy who was supposed to take me out.
I saw Lucas' jaw clench and my timetable crumple in his hands as they curled into fists. "Don't worry angel, we'll made sure nothing happens the cameras are running."
I nodded, unsure that it would stop that creep from doing whatever he had planned.
