The usual journey
Eli had trekked through the wilderness of Roy Hill for his weekly trip to Mr. Kronzington's shop in the village.
Eli was a young boy who had no one to look after him. He was supplied ration and other essentials by the old Mr. Kronzington had a little shop in the villages. The villagers bought everything they needed from him. So, the shop although small, was running well and probably made good profit. But for some reason whenever Eli visited the shop, there were no customers.
Therefore, Eli always had a lon
g chat with the shopkeeper. Well it was mostly Mr. Kronzington chatting and Eli listening to him. This week too like every other week, he had supplied Eli with all the essentials without any charge as usual. Eli was returning from this routine trip to his house the Roy Hill Castle with two brown bags in his hands.
The slim boy looked heavily overburdened by the weight of these bags. To make the matters worse his long poker straight silver hair kept falling into his eyes. Moreover, it was getting dark. No one from the village would dare trek through Roy Hill after dark.
The reason for this fear was only known to them.
Eli on the other hand was young and did not fear much. He never bothered to ask the villagers why they were so reluctant to come to Roy Hill. Although it was highly inconvenient when the plumber or the electrician would take forever to come to the castle for repairs.
Navigating through Roy Hill never bothered the boy. Eli knew Roy Hill like the back of his hand.
Moreover, Roy Hill was not very difficult to climb. Especially because nothing ever changed on the Hill or for that matter the town of Chekerbee where Roy Hill was. The weather in Chekerbee was always pleasant. Unlike other hilly trains in the country, Eli's town was immune to any catastrophe.
The town had two villages, about 7 miles apart. There was no connectivity between the two villages.
The System would never bother about providing transport to two remote villages of a less known town like Chekerbee.
As Eli was walking up for hill he stepped on something unfamiliar, when he bent down to look for the unfamiliar object, he thought that there was a strong flash of light up in the sky. He immediately snapped uprigh lt and looked up. But there was nothing.
For the first time in nearly 16 years of his existence in Roy Hill Castle, Eli felt an uneasiness creep into his chest.
