To his astonishment the string at the other end of the stick created a bright light and slowly the string of light extended itself reaching every nook and corner of the kitchen. It was like a brightly lit serpent slithering, dancing and flying in the huge kitchen.
Once Eli overcame his initial amazement, he realised that the serpent of light was writing something in the air. With its glowy strings folding and bending at places, the serpent of light had a message of Eli.
Those who see the light of life,
Those who see with eyes so bright,
Those who see what's hidden inside,
Those who see the waters plight,
Those who see the vanquished fight,
They are the beasts of light.
As soon as Eli had finished deadly the last word. The strings of light vanished into thin air. The whole kitchen turned back into the deserted quaint kitchen on Roy Hill Castle. One would never say that such a mad thing happened in this kitchen some moments ago. No. No one would know. Only the boy knew.
Eli stood uprooted at his spot. It all felt surreal to him. This was most definitely a dream. He had never had a dream. But Mr Digby used to talk about dreams very frequently. Dreams are a world we create for ourselves when we want to be happy he had said.
But Eli was happy.
However, when the strings of light first shooted out of the stick he had a felt a fluttering sensation in his stomach. Like a kid who had found his favourite toy. Eli did not remember feeling that sensation before.
His attention shifted to the magical stick. The size of his palm. The string at the end of the stick had completely disappeared and it looked it more dull than before. Eli was perplexed. Had he just imagined everything. He started recounting everything in his head. To his surprise, the otherwise forgetful Eli could remember everything. Even every word of the message written by the serpent of light.
