‘no…. no,no,no this cant be right. There’s no way Aaron is my mate’ I thought. But before I could utter another word I heard and echo of my previous statement

Aaron’s eyes became hungry as he too uttered the word in a low growl “mate” and stepped towards me, I started to panic as he looked like he was going to pounce on me and devour or kill me. It took every part of my being to not scream at the top of my longs as he grabbed my tiny biceps and squeezed while growling “you are mine to do with as I please now”

I couldn’t believe it, how had the moon goddess paired me with my abuser, the man who had left scars up and down my body since I became a part of this pack as a lost child 11 years ago. How was I even going to survive a day under his control. I had frozen in place as he looked down at me with an evil grin spreading across his face.

Then I hear Saffron again, filling me with strength I didn’t have just moments before.

“It is almost time for me to help my dear, but first you must do the difficult part, say the words, you cannot be attached to a being with such evil in their heart, break the bond and we will be stronger for it”

I could feel Saffron within me lending me her strength as I brought my eyes up to meet my mate Aarons and spoke the words I knew were my only chance of survival

“I Harper jean Nightingale od unknown pack origins reject you Aaron Feirge as my mate”

Aarons immediate reaction was to stumble backwards, eyes wide and stutter “n.no you c.cant p.possibly do this”

“accept it” I seethed feeling fire burning in my veins now that I didn’t understand

Looking terrified under my gaze for the first time ever he muttered quietly “I accept your rejection” and crumpled to the floor in pain. I expected to feel pain but none came. I just felt the fire burning through me like an unimaginable heat that I welcomed and comforted me.

I turned to Alpha Luca and felt a grin creep across my face, it was then that I realised in was no longer in control I was watching through Saffrons eyes and I heard her seethe “Alpha luca you have done so much to hurt me and so many others, from this day forward you shall feel the pain of everyone you have hurt” I felt saffron open my mouth wide like she was about to scream, but intead what came out was a high pitched wailing that wasn’t beautiful nor was it horrendous, it was encapturing, and Alpha luca was starting to shake, he was starting to sob, he was staring to scream. By the time saffron quieted the tune and gave me control back he was in a ball on the ground unable to get up.

So I turned and ran

I ran back to my little shed grabbed my few measly belongings put them into a small bag that I had somehow carried through from my old life before I had landed here , and ran, I was not coming back to this pack if I had to become a rouge I would. There was nothing left for me here and I no longer wanted to be anywhere near this place.

I ran for was felt like forever, eventually reaching what I knew was the boundary of our lands, a large stream that was currently full with a rapid current. I could hear howls in the distance behind me, knowing I had only minutes before they came to kill me for what I had done to their alpha I made the only choice I could and jumped into the stream , trying to fight my way to the other side, I made slow progress and would estimate I was one hundred meters downstream by the time I managed to catch a tree branch sticking out from the opposite bank but I was going to make it , I wouldn’t let this be the way I die after everything I had already been through.

Crawling up onto the bank I froze, something was growing at me, more than one something, I looked up with fear in my eyes to see three massive wolves stalking towards me through the forest.

It took every part of my being to not react as the largest of the wolves transformed back into a man, naked as the day he was born and growled “what is your purpose here”
