Chapter1:TheApp
Lina sat on the edge of her bed staring at her phone. Her room was quiet except for the faint hum of the streetlights outside. She had spent the whole evening scrolling through social media and finishing her homework. Life had felt ordinary all week. School was the same, her friends were the same, and she was the same. Everything felt normal.
Then a strange notification appeared on her screen. It was not from any app she knew. There was no name, no icon, only a glowing symbol that pulsed softly. She frowned. She had never seen anything like it before.
Curious, Lina tapped the symbol. A small message popped up. It read: See what they hide.
Her heart beat a little faster. Was this some new game? Some joke? She shook her head. Nothing like this had ever happened to her before.
Lina thought of her best friend, Maya. Maya was outgoing, fun, and everyone trusted her. She typed her name into the app. A moment later, words appeared on the screen. Lina’s eyes widened.
Maya had lied to her about something important. Lina felt a cold twist in her stomach. How long had Maya been hiding this from her? She stared at the words on her phone, trying to understand what they meant.
A sound from her window made her jump. She looked up and saw a shadow moving across the street. Lina frowned. It was probably just a neighbor, but she felt a sudden unease. It was as if someone was watching.
The next day at school, Lina tried to ignore the app, but curiosity burned in her chest. She tapped it again, this time on someone she barely knew. A secret appeared on the screen, and she felt a strange mix of shock and excitement.
Soon, strange things began to happen. People she had been friendly with avoided her. Small accidents seemed to follow her everywhere. She dropped her books in the hallway, papers flew, and even the cafeteria food spilled in odd ways. Lina began to realize that the app was not just revealing secrets. Something about it was changing reality.
During lunch, she noticed Evan sitting alone at the edge of the cafeteria. He was tall, with dark hair that fell just above his eyes. His gaze seemed calm but sharp. He looked at her, and for a moment, Lina felt her stomach tighten. He did not smile or wave. He just watched.
Lina quickly looked away. Why was he staring at her? She did not know, but a small voice in her head warned her to be careful. Something about him felt different. Something about the app felt dangerous.
By the time school ended, Lina had made a decision. She had to know more about the app. She could not leave it alone. She slipped it into her backpack and walked home, heart racing. She did not know what secrets she would uncover next. She did not know how much her life was about to change.
All she knew was that nothing would ever feel normal again.
