Meeting an Old Friend

1076 Words
Frederick's Point of View I'm here at the Bliss Restaurant now. It's already 5:57 pm and I'm going to meet William here at 6:00 pm. I hope that this meeting with my mischievous cousin will end soon, no matter what it is about, because at 7:00 pm, Fire Queen will be there too. Not too long and I found William entering the restaurant with his girlfriend. "Hey bro, you came too early," he said while they were approaching. "And you came late," I replied and they took a seat. "I'm sorry Fred, it's my fault," Melanie said. She is William's girlfriend. "So, what are you going to tell me?" I asked William and the lovers looked at each other. William looked at me and smiled. I think I already know what it is. "We're getting married," he said and happily smiled. "Wow!" I exclaimed. "Congratulations to both of you. I'm very happy to know about it," I said. Well, William was at the right age. He is already 29 years old. "It's next month and here's an invitation card," Melanie said while handing the invitation card to me. "Really?" I was a little bit shocked because I thought it was too soon. "Why so soon?" I asked. "It's because of my very easy to get jealous fiance," William replied. "Hahahaha!" the two laughed. "You know, I just want to prove to her how much I love her," William told me. "Ouch!" I replied. "Hey, what happened?" Melanie asked. "I was beaten by an ant. Oh my gosh, there are a lot of ants here," I said while looking down and William tapped my shoulder. "Hahahaha!" they laughed. "I'm sorry, we are just this sweet sometimes," Melanie said. "I love babe," she said to William. "I love you too, babe," William replied and they smack kissed. "You know what, you may go now before I'll be drown in jealousy," I said and chuckled. "By the way, we want to tell you this personally because we want you to become our bestman," William said. "You've been too busy these days. That's why we already made the invitation cards without telling you. I know you won't disagree or else," he explained. "Of course, that would be my pleasure and honor. I'll surely prepare myself for such a big occasion for my beloved bestfriend, cousin and brother," I happily replied. "Great. Let's order food now," Melanie said. "By the way, I'm going to meet someone later, here too. For now, I'll just leave you here. I can't stand watching a sugar lovers in front of me," I said and laughed. "Haha!" "Hahahaha, I'm sorry," Melanie replied. "If that's what you want," William replied and held her fiancé's hand, they smiled. I stood up. "Bye," I said and immediately made my way out of the restaurant. It's just 6:20 pm and I still have 40 minutes to wait for Fire Queen. I went to the nearest mall and look for something I might want to buy. I found a nice black wrist watch. It was worth 50,000 pesos and I bought it. It was already 6:50 pm, so I immediately went back to my car and drove back to the Bliss Restaurant. When I reached the restaurant, Fire Queen was not yet there. I looked for a table for two, but there were no more available, so I sat at a table with four seats. It's already 7:30 pm but she's not yet here. I wondered if she would really meet up with me. "Excuse me sir. Will your friend be there?" the waitress asked me. "I'm sorry sir, but you've been here for almost an hour. We still have a lot of customers who need a table," the rude waitress said and it made me a little bit irritated. "Ain't I a customer too?" I asked because of her boldness, which seemed like she was throwing me away. "I'm sorry sir. It's just that we have a lot of customers now. Besides, you still haven't ordered anything," the waitress said. "Only for an order? You're trying to throw me away? Didn't I tell you lately to reserve this seat? Why didn't you just tell me how much I should pay to occupy this for a long time?" I continuously asked in irritation. "I'm so sorry Sir," the waitress replied. "Here!" I angrily put 10,000 pesos on the table. "Give me all your menus here," I seriously said. "Aaa, are you sure sir?" the waitress was sputtering. She may have gotten a little scared because of how I acted. "Why? Isn't it enough? " I asked her back. "It's more than enough sir. I'll get your dishes now," the waitress grabbed the money. She immediately went to the counter. "You're terrible," a woman's voice said from my back. I looked back and found Fire Queen, but I was so surprised at who I found beside her. My body voluntarily stood up and I looked at her in surprise. "Darlene?" I asked. Of course, I saw and recognized her last night, but I didn't expect that she would be with Fire Queen now. I could tell from her face that she was so shocked to see me too. "Frederick? You are.... " Darlene asked. "Wait, you know each other?" Fire Queen asked. "Aah, have a seat first," I said in a sputtering way. It was a square table. I sat in one chair, Fire Queen on my left side and Darlene was in front of me. "How did you two know each other?" Fire Queen curiously asked. Darlene was so quiet and so I answered her question. "She's my, she's." I haven't finished what I'm about to say because I don't know how to say it. "He was my best friend in the past," Darlene said. "Why in the past only? Aren't you friends now? Did you have any fights? " Fire Queen curiously asked. "Why not settle it now? It's not good to have hatred for each other," she added. "Ah, eh eh," I really don't know how to explain it. Until now, I'm still blaming myself for what happened to Joylene. I'm still blaming myself for why Joylene and Darlene became enemies too. "You're wrong. We are not enemies, we didn't fight," Darlene said. "It's just a little misunderstanding, right Frederick?" she asked me. Darlene really changed a lot. Last time she was so impulsive but now, she's so calm.
