Chapter 2 - If Only She's Powerful

1262 Words
When I returned to the classroom, my heart hurt so much. The werewolves there, as usual, were staring at me like I was a giant exclamation point walking. Blaze and his members were gone, and my mood eased for a brief while. Perhaps they are in the woods. What made my father decide to sell me? I wanted to wallow in self pity and hate whoever my father was, but all I could think was that my father might not be able to feed me, so I was sold rather than ended up dead. That could be it! I sat in the center till our professor arrived that day. "Ms. Camassiah?" "Sir?" I was obliged to stand and look him in the eyes for a few seconds. It's Mr. Kiba, professor in economics. "I'll see you after class." I nodded quickly. While some of my classmates were whispering, others were laughing. I just sat back down and ignored what they said. Mr. Kiba will start his classes so I must listen. While I was making an effort to listen. In my head, I can still hear the voice of the man who helped me earlier. Is it a newbie? No one dares to help me when Scarlet bullies or hurts me. Blaze sometimes helped me, but in exchange, he handed me a hundred orders. This is constantly my cycle in that vicious werewolf's existence. I was both his servant at university and at home. The Calhoun mansion is quite big. It was alone at the top of the mountain, looking like a palace. Each member of the pack attends every pack meeting or discussion, and Blaze's Father is the so-called Alpha of the werewolves. There is widespread suspicion that Blaze, rather than his brother Mico, will be the next Alpha. Mico is the eldest of three siblings, Blaze is the second, and Scarlet is the third one and their half-sister. It's a good thing Scarlet doesn't reside at Calhoun's house, but in her Mother Nikita's, which is near the University. I'm not particularly smart, but I'm also not particularly stupid. Yes, I'm an average learner. However, it can be difficult to keep up at times, especially since my classmates are different and strange. I'm the only one who isn't like everyone else. When Mr. Kiba stopped teaching and fell silent for a bit, I just remained crouched over my writing notebook. It was likewise quiet behind me, so I was tempted to peek up, only to regret doing so. Blaze is now in front of me, followed by Alejandro and his three pals. He was staring at me as if he was probing every crevice of my soul. My grip on the ballpen tighten, and I was forced to bow respectfully before him, and wasn't surprised when he stuck bubble gum on my notebook, where I was writing a note. "Pathetic." I just took a deep breath when I heard him say it. He only speaks on occasion, and every letter he says is a dagger of insults to a human like me. I immediately sat down as he moved to the back where his throne and allies were. My classmates laughed again because I know, I looked really funny in their eyes. My female classmates started whispering to each other since Blaze and his boys are well-known. Many female wolves admired them and sought them out as mates. That made me shake my head. Mate? I hope Blaze finds his wolf mate soon so that my life as his servant can be peaceful. It's exhausting for me to continually go after everything he desires. Maybe once Blaze sees his Luna, he'll let me go and let me live on my own. I let out a sigh. Mr. Kiba then resumed his class as I was also unable to focus. In the back, Blaze's gang is making a ruckus. Why do they come in when I know they're not going to listen to Mr. Kiba, especially Blaze! He acts as if he owns the entire university, despite the fact that he does not. As if he bought the souls of the professors here! I slowly tore up the page of my notebook where he had glued bubble gum. My heart was pounding from anger, but I couldn't do anything. I'm just a servant. *** I WALKED straight to Mr. Kiba's office after class, but Alejandro stopped me in the hallway. "Blaze summoned you, little Cammy baby. He's up on the roof." He grinned. I took a deep breath. Here it is again! It was Alejandro, not Spirit, who called to inform me that Blaze had summoned me. Maybe it's better if it's Spirit, rather than Alejandro, whose presence I no longer trust. "Ouch! Cammy, you hurt me on that one." What he said made me frown. What is he saying? But he simply chuckled, and I wondered if he could read my thoughts. God! Is that even possible? Do wolves have the ability to read people's minds? I was completely unaware of it! No one ever told me. I'm even more irritated. "It's not my problem, Cammy baby, that I can read people's minds. I'm a beta, and I can read anything you think of." His grin grew even wider. I lowered my gaze. I was embarrassed at that point, so I turned away from him and dashed to the rooftop where Blaze typically rested. I don't care if Alejandro is able to read my mind! He is in no way my master. I'll simply go see Mr. Kiba later after this, hoping that our professor will understand why. He knows I'm Blaze's servant and that I do whatever the ruthless spoiled werewolf wants, even if it's against my will. Why do I have to serve that stupid wolf?! I upped my pace even further. I must see Blaze or he will punish me. I know he's counting down the minutes until I reach this building's rooftop. If I were a wolf, I'd be at the top in an instant, but I'm just a normal person, so it's difficult for me. "You've arrived late." I was exactly on the rooftop, when I heard Blaze's cold voice. I almost fainted. Just hearing his voice makes my soul feel like it's on fire in hell. I didn't raise my head to look him in the eyes. All I have to do is keep my head down. "I'm sorry. I-I tried to hurry my walk—" "Avoid Mr. Kiba." Huh? "I know Mr. Kiba wants to talk to you after class because of me, but I order you not to show up in his office because Mr. Kiba is one of those werewolves trying to get in my way! That old wolf feels sorry for you, but there is no room for mercy in this world you live in now, do you understand?" What I heard made me bite my lower lip. I think this was the first time I heard Blaze speak this long, and his voice, like the first time, was emotionless. "Are you paying attention, Camassiah?" "Yes, I won't be going to Mr. Kiba's office because this is your order." "Now go." I quickly nodded and ran away from there. I hate that wolf but I am powerless. If only I could be as powerful as he is. Why did he summon me to the rooftop just to say those words when he can order that to his dogs to inform me, so that I don't waste time going up there?
